TITANS chairwoman Rebecca Frizelle says Gold Coasters must forgive the club for their past errors to allow the Titans to move on and emerge again as an NRL force.
With the rugby league season just a fortnight away from starting with the Auckland Nines, Frizelle wants the city to draw a line under their turbulent past few years and give the club a clean slate to become successful and stable.
“We have to be forgiven for some of the mistakes that have been made in the past and be allowed to regenerate and regrow,’’ Frizelle said.
“It really is important. It’s critical to our success.’
Frizelle said the Titans wanted local fans to take ownership of the Gold Coast team. Crowds may have declined in recent seasons, but the club has a plan to get back on top.
Frizelle even called upon locally based fans of other clubs to adopt the Titans as their second team as a way of supporting the Gold Coast as a city.
“I would ask the Gold Coast … just to make room for the Titans in all of us,’’ she said.
“You’ll have your first team but just make room for (the Titans) because we need them.
“We’re not asking you to drop your first team but just make room for them and support them.
“Because first and foremost you’re a Gold Coaster and this is a Gold Coast side that needs your support.’’
Frizelle said the new board had set the tone for future success and now needed the fans and Gold Coast community to move forward with the club.
“There’s a line in the sand now, we’ve got to stop looking backwards and actually start looking forward,” Frizelle said.
“And that’s what’s really important.’
“(The Titans are) Gold Coast and need to be supported and should be supported,’’ she said.
“And that’s the message we’ve got to get out to everyone.’’
She said last year’s financial takeover by the NRL and appointment of a fully independent board was a “new start for the club’’.
“Our board of directors are absolutely committed to improving the club’s fortunes,’’ she said.
“We need the community to get on board and support us.
“If you are proud of the Gold Coast we also want you to be proud of the Titans because this is your team.

Am I correct in thinking the Titans are still owned by the NRL and posting huge financial losses? What a disaster.

all your going to do is cry proof proof then when some one is as simple and as thick and bitter and twisted as you are is convinced, will just call lies lies as they dont want to believe the reality of it!
there is proof of their existence spazza of up until last year, of the titans being a financial sink hole, yet for some reason, just because the NRLOL has taken over control of them, the club training down at a local school and admin in the gold coast council buildings, most of their fans have left the club, they have an embarrassing amount of memberships & the club is struggling for sponsors!
yet you seem to think the club is financially stable and turning out millions in profit! :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>

Finished with a $3.3 million loss which will have to be covered by the NRL until they find a new owner. Crowds were down last year and sponsors were difficult to find because of a number of serious off-field issues. Also still paying for former coach John Cartwright.
