AFL, the most valuable sport on Australian TV

Post by Xman »

Well today the NRL signed off on a 5 year $1.8b deal which includes their much hailed SOO. That's $360m per year.

How does that compare to the AFL's deal of $2.5b over 6 years? Well the AFL get $413m per year, or around 15% more.

Welcome to second place throwballers :\:

It was more than a little disappointing. NRL management is lacking a pair . Next contract Fox will show all matches , 5 exclusive as well as simulcasting the semis and pay just $60m a year more than they paid last time

Smith was the only one who had the balls to stand up to this arsehole and they got rid of him.

Though with international rights and expansion into Brisbane we will still get more than than the AFL
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

HOW THE TWO DEALS COMPARE AT THE MOMENT...

AFL - 2.5 billion over 6 years ($416 million a year or $23.1M per team)

NRL - 1.8 billion over 5 years ($360 million a year or $22.5M per team)

so so far the two deals are virtually even...

no not really, the NRLOL do not play their games early afternoons like the NRLOL tv geared scheduling. the NRLOL has all its internationals, 4 nations RL WC & SOO & other snore fest events
compared to the AFL's H&A season, & nab challenge a series of practice games
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m

What deal, all I see are idiots jumping the gun.

Btw LIC, some games of RL that 9 will show will not be anywhere near prime time for your so-called event games, how can they when the games will be held in other nations in other hemispheres every second year or so? Do the home nations hosting the games play them in the early hours of their morning just to please ch 9?

What a numpty, fair dinkum.
