**** the 400,000 social media mentions measured from Friday to Sunday, AFL fans peaked at
92,000 mentions on Saturday night, with Bill Shorten and Malcolm Turnbull both chiming in on Twitter and Instagram.
Come Sunday, 69,000 #NRLGF tweets were orbiting cyberspace with Twittersphere analysing everything from Barnsey’s knee-high leather boots to Ben Hunt’s moments of horror. Just like the game, the winner of the online coverage went into extra time.
Cue a golden field goal from Jonathon Thurston, followed by an intimate moment with his family on the sideline – and social media erupted. The NRL emerged the clear winner with over
106,000 mentions.
Must have been all the AFL fans watching NRL that pushed us over the line hey wookie....... :_<>

So this was for July 2015 only
PI = Page impressions
UB = Unique Browsers,
UV = Unique Visitors - difference explained here (though I'm still confused)
ASD = ??? something to do with time spent on each site, but can't work out what it stands for
What was happening in july for the NRL?
SOO was on during that period when the NRL drop off in ratings and you guessed it also would have a drop off for digital also.
One part i found quite funny was this
DIGITAL TRAFFIC JUL’15 MOBILE APPS
AFL
PI: 434,652,568
UB: 1,575,977
ASD: 09:23
Downloads: 3,025,275
NRL
PI: 44,973,311
UB: 7,514,362
ASD: 04:75
Downloads: 1,734,852
During this SOO period the NRL had less page impressions which is to be expected, how big is the AFL's media department again?..
AFL 1.5Million unique browsers
NRL 7.5Million unique browsers.
Time to Pay Telstra. :D
Smashed again... :_<> :_<> =D>

The_Wookie wrote:hey eels: every year since 2002 the AFL has beaten the NRL for media rights when all is said and done. Every time. Even with NZ added. Thats a fact.
Not only that but sponsorship and other sources of income for the AFL make the NRL look like the minor league that it actually is when it comes to anything that isnt television related. Then we can go into actual tangibles like membership and attendances where the NRL is only now catching up to where the AFL was in 1994 in memberships and where the AFL was in attendances in 1945. Thats not a typo, the last time the AFL averaged 15k for the year including finals, it was 1945.
its not all about the media deal. it never has been. Champ.
So wookie why can't the nrl generate the interest, crowds, sponsorship dollars, revenue like the AFL has? It should be ahead of the AFL considering NSW and Qld are the 1st and 3rd largest advertising and populated states in the country where it is considered the more popular code?

Essendon nearly tops the list in all different forms of media. Not bad for a basket case. If only they got their act together!

The_Wookie wrote:Its a fact. The Origin sides are representative sides, not club sides. get with the fucking program.
They are state teams, something the AFL does not have.
You leave them out because all you do is spread fumbleball propaganda.
Adding the state teams looks like this on facebook
1. NRL 1.075m
2. Qld maroons 816k
3. AFL 746k
4. NSW Blues 712k
5. Broncos 578k
6. NZ Warriors 425k
7. Melbourne Storm 414k
8. South Sydney 406k
Take a look champ, its another easy win to the NRL...

=D> =D>
The AFL and NRL both have different media strats.
NRL has a partnership with facebook
AFL has a partnership with Twitter.
That probably explains the difference on both sets of social media.
