You're probably right. Wouldn't be the first or last time we saw fudged crowd numbers in the NRL.
What are you thinking the real crowd was? Bit over 1k perhaps?

Sharks v Rabbitohs: NRL considered calling off Monday night clash due to wild weather
FOX SPORTS April 20, 2015 10:29PM SHARE
Sharks win in torrential rain1:44
CRONULLA captain Paul Gallen has revealed the NRL considered calling off Monday night’s game against South Sydney due to some of the wildest weather Sydney has seen in years.
Gusts of more than 100km/h — on par with a Category 1 cyclone — hit parts of the city, and the Sutherland Shire copped a fair brunt of the wind and rain.
Some of the turf at Remondis Stadium resembled a swimming pool, as the Sharks and Rabbitohs players slipped and slid through 80 minutes of entertaining but error-riddled rugby league.
Gallen, who was a late omission from the Sharks line-up due to a hip injury, told Triple M that officials looked at the prospect of calling off the match due to the impact the weather would have on player safety.
SHARKS WIN CRAZY GAME THAT ALMOST WASN’T
“Nathan McGuirk (NRL general manager of football operations) came in and asked if the players were worried about their safety,” Gallen said.
“They were considering calling it off.”

if it had been football (soccer) it would have been called off at a shot.hats off to both cronulla and souths for providing a decent game in such adverse conditions.

I must have been watching a different game if that was considered an error riddled game. I thought the handling from both teams was better than I've seen in games played in perfect daylight.

Wellington Phoenix have underlined their A-League title credentials, moving four points clear on top after a 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar in a controversially rain-shortened match at Lang Park.

As the rest of their rivals stumbled in the five-way race for first place, the Phoenix - led by Socceroo Nathan Burns - fired as they overcame an early deficit to register an important victory on Sunday.
The match threatened to descend into farce in the second half as Brisbane's recent wild weather worsened, waterlogging the pitch to the point where short, simple passes were held up by large puddles.
Referee Alan Milliner was forced to officially abandon the game in the 73rd minute, with the result at the time standing to give the Phoenix their first ever win at Lang Park in front of 10,075 brave fans.
An FFA match official explained: "It was the score at the time. If the game had been stopped before half-time it would have been a replay."

SHARK PARK
The Ground actually held up pretty good, for the rain it copped over a 48hr period..
It was the WINDS and Torrential Rain which was bad..
I Give the 4000 people that turned up (A MEDAL)
being that NRL Was going to cancel the Game.
Only for the 2 clubs to be happy to play.
was with no doubt going to be a poor crowd..

just look at the news in Sydney..
Power is out across more than 180,000 homes
but somehow this game went ahead.

RUGBY LEAGUE
REMEMBER if a Knock on happens it can be a stop start game..
not like the AFL where there a fumbles knock on's every 2 seconds.
but play continues..
bad Weather in a Rugby league the game is affected in many ways.
