as a fan of football, i really don't get this points equal more fun for spectators. take rugby for instance, A 20-30 phase play resulting in
- a try is exciting is great for the scoring fans
- a mistake by the attacking team and losing the ball hugely frustrating for 1 set of fans and great for the other. Both are great emotions for sport.
Basketball
get ball run down end of court and score or dont score, dont worry 90 seconds later you get another go, I just dont get big scores equals more fun
I also dont get this obsession with not drawing, my opinion the NHL have ruined Hockey with the no draws in the regular season.
If both teams are so well matched that neither can win then that is the contest, let them go away and work out a new game plan for the next time they meet. Same as NRL I dont like the golden point.

Hey cuz, the scoring in Union and Rugby League is the same bar what you get for each score. Union does not have more options for scoring than Rugby League.
Try, Conversion, Penalty try, Penalty Conversion, Drop goal.
