oi fellas

so opening friday night of the season

against your biggest rivals

tickets on sale for months

and still couldn't crack 19k

where you at pawwa? the derby was played there only a week ago and got more people than :lol:

Good game and good crowd which looked about right to me.

What else are they supposed to do besides fill the joint and win?

If a few people at the away end didn't turn up, bad luck for them, or good luck actually, they got spanked :(/

Btw, 18.7k is roughly what they averaged last year, not bad, not bad at all considering the ground holds 19.5k.

Oh, looks like the eels are flogging the WSW after one game.

Btw, our next home game is against Souths at Parra, should be another 18.5k crowd at least seeing as they are the reigning premiers and parra have started off well. Probably should have moved the game to ANZ seeing as we have the bulldogs and Warriors beforehand. If Parra can roll those two, the crowds will be locked out of parra.

and then round 13 against the visiting roosters will be around the corner and the attendance will be barely over 10k, just like it was last season, the year before that and so on

the challenge for pawwa will be if they even get at least 1 crowd this season over 19k at pirtek. considering this was your opening game against your biggest rivals....dont see it happening unless souths pull off a miracle and buy up all your GA areas like they do everywhere else in sydney :)

What a load of shit.

They averaged the same last year as they got last night, they have two big games at anz this season and a game against penrith of all teams in darwin which holds only 10k, why they took a local derby up there has got me, you'd think a small drawing team would be playing in that game, not our next door neighbour #-o

Yet after the season is done and dusted with either a big win or a loss, the eels will still average more than the wsw and you'll still be posting garbage trying to justify something you think makes them look bigger than they actually are.

Oh and the Manly team has not been our biggest rival since the mid 80's, it's Canterbury that are our real rivals.

if you dont like manly that's your prerogative, but there are another 9 or 10 clubs based in sydney that are all local for you, not our problem if none of them can fill a stadium like a real derby can

2015-16 will be very interesting indeed. once the ffa manage to move 1 derby to anz all this nonsense about 40k 50k for your eels(despite getting kicked out of pirtek by the wanderers) will get put to bed when the derby gets an easy 65k+ there next season in its first go :cool:

Parra V Roosters was nearly 16K at Pirtek in 2014
in 2012 it was 19,700

How do you know they will not average more at Parramatta stadium, every record for the stadium belongs to the eels you dope. They have filled the joint and had averages above 20k at that very stadium before ANZ was even thought of. The team has played there since it opened in 1986, they have only taken a few dozen games away from the stadium in that time elsewhere. So I have no idea what you are implying, well yes I do and I think you're an idiot as the past and the present show with facts and figures.

a very meh crowd, but on par with the NRL I suppose. Maybe if you want bigger crowds try and hold games at bigger stadiums.

I magine Collingwood getting 18k to any home game, let alone their season opener. But the Eels are aiming to be bigger than Collingwood arent they? :[]

They'll eventually take all their bigger games to anz unless parra is upgraded, and even if it does end up seating 35-40k, they'll still take a few matches to anz because either of those two capacities will be too small still.

I have no idea what ppl are going on with, the game was around 700 off capacity yet it's bad.

Maybe some manly fans couldn't get there in time or some eels fans, maybe ppl who just go to the nearest football game, who knows?

In the crowds thread at LU, someone mentioned there were 300 tickets left a day before the game or on that day, wow.
