Rugby League Ratings ‏@RL_Ratings 1h1 hour ago

The 2015 #NRL season has finished with Fox Sports avg ratings up +3% to 218k, incl MON +14%, but SAT -1% & SUN -3%.

https://twitter.com/RL_Ratings

Up %3 on Fox even with the CWC interruption at the start of the NRL season.

Pay your Sports leader Rupert...

As I've asked before Wookie .
Who were the other bidders for the non FTA games of AFL?

No one .

They cant fathom this reality AFLcrap.

AFL had no other bidders.

Sport is that important to Pay TV it will go for heaps weather there is another bidder or not.

218, with every reason to expect that to dilute if all games were shown under and afl schedule. Not to mention, there are no other realistic bidders for the content.....
An AFL schedule would see no Monday night , instead Friday night as well as some Thursday . So they they would lose nothing , more than likely gain....Think up another but, but excuse.

Foxtel want to keep there Monopoly on pay tv , tying it up for the next 7 years would ensure that. There are rivals out there sniffing round. How series? I guess it comes down to Rupert and the fear factor.

The AFL had no extra bidders, no more then the NRL
In Fact the NRL will have more potential bidders as the months go on..

especially if Channel 10 is approved with Foxtel.
and other providers get bigger foothold in Australia.

Why not invent an answer like Eels did earlier in the thread. Ive never even speculated on it. Just keep on making shit up like you guys did before.

All Ive said that there are no real contenders for the remaining four matches besides Fox, and that when you consider the loss of prime time exclusivity and timeslots - I wouldnt be so certain that even simulcasting will get you the money you are after, especially when you consider that for every game simulcast money has to be paid to nine, reducing the value of the overall deal.

There is half-a-dozen reports of companies in News papers that have shown interest.

And not one of them has indicated they are bidding. Every single one is speculative with no real substance. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
Why would companies tell the media what there doing? It does say that ESPN, along with others, have shown interest.

How is that entire sentence not an irony for you? Do you even read the fucking article?

ESPNs comments were basically we havent bid, but we're always interested in sports rights.

“We are a sports media company and in the sports rights business, so are always looking at available rights that might best fit our business,” an ESPN spokesman said.

“We are not currently in discussions with the NRL but of course always open to discussions around available rights.”

Why don't you try reading what I Wrote! I didn't say that they are bidding , I said they were one of half-a-dozen companys to have expressed interest.

"Only days after doubts were cast on the NRL’s ability to go anywhere near the $2.5 billion deal secured by the AFL, rugby league finally received a semblance of good news when ESPN confirmed it was open to discussing broadcasting rights."

"beIN Sports, which did not respond to requests for comment, is interested in bidding for the pay-TV rights and has said as much to the NRL"

Interesting. Fremantle vs Sydney rated better in Sydney on a Saturday afternoon than Sydney vs Melbourne in the NRL on a Friday night prime time in Melbourne. A game the Storm won and Swans lost no less. Way to go AFL. :thumbleft:
