Always wondered how Major League guys would go in cricket.
Seems like they would do quite well in a game.

Hmm taking it somewhat off the forum topics here afl ...but  meh, who cares.

The cricketer was bowling some of the easiest possible deliveries in that vid. What an American centric rubbish piece of work. Bin it. Daves right, that yank'd cryin for his mama if he had to come up against a proper quick between the ages of 17-35.

While I do think the much higher standard of the baseballer compared to the amateur cricketer was a very unfair comparison.

I find baseball is a much more interesting game though.

Oh I don't know about that. It would depend. No run baseball games with the pitchers on top can be quite boring. Likewise a string of maiden overs in a test match would attract the same apathy.

Former Australian test captain Ian Chappell was quite good at baseball. ESPN even recognised his experience and added him as a special guest commentator when the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks were in Sydney.

Yeah but baseball is tactical with being able to sneak from base to base.

Cricket has tactics as well - when to run and when not to run, and sometimes it causes overthrows.

Yeah I guess the bowling is very tactical.
They should do a comparison with the best of the best in each code next time.

About the only things that would work would be comparing pitching to bowling and the respective batting. Even then, the different behaviours of the respective bats and balls would make it hard for those with the foreign item in their hands. Not impossible as Chappell proved but hard nonetheless. A cricketer can cut and get away with it. A baseballer can't cut because that's a foul ball every time.

I don't know. I guess out of curiosity at least it would interesting to make such a comparison. But I wouldn't want to be a cricketer facing CC Sabathia!

I still think the best MLB pro batsman would smash it at cricket.

Bat is smaller and less time to hit a pitch than a bowl.

The science in it makes a lot of sense and quite accurate.
