VFL CUT TO 15 TEAMS IN 2015 AS BENDIGO GOLD TURNS INTO BENDIGO FOLD!!!

Looks like there will only be 15 teams playing in the VFL in 2015 after Bendigo Gold don't renew their AFL licence.
Poor finances caused the club to struggle to remain viable.
I find this surprising considering Victoria is meant to be heartland AFL.

Not surprising at all. Bendigo never supported a VFL team on its own. Too much of a threat to it's local competition. I know because my local club Traralgon failed for the same reason.

bendigo use to be aligned with the Bombers, as the feeder team for the AFL side.
Bendigo are competing with other AFL club feeder sides something financially they cannot compete in

Strongly recommend you take your dark glasses off. As I remember Bendigo is an excellent recruitment ground at draft time.

Facts are facts though. If AFL feeder clubs are going under it does not look good for the code.
A lot of these AFL fans are always saying rugby league is dieing and AFL is taking over when rugby league has reserve grade clubs in New Zealand and PNG which AFL is still yet to get.
Yet when an AFL feeder club goes broke it is all silence lol...

It wasn't a feeder club. It was a support club. The feeder club plays in the TAC Cup.

Ok support club then. Is still the VFL that has lost a team due to poor support.
