Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart and prop Dane Tilse joined Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall at Seiffert Oval yesterday, to inspect the ground ahead of the trial match in February against the Knights.
The historic home of the Raiders is currently undergoing $1.1M worth of upgrades to the facility in preparation for the trial, with the first stage of rennovations including a new watering system and ground surface now complete.

Over the next few weeks 2000 new grandstand seats will be installed, along with a new electronic scoreboard and disabled access amenities, in time for the match on February 21.
Stuart spoke about the excitement in taking a game back to the Raiders spiritual home, while Tilse recalled tales from his father Michael, who was one of the original Raiders from the 1982-1983 era.
with no one buying memberships & crowds falling it looks like those little raiders are planning ahead for the future, downsizing stadiums to a suburban park, as they are sick of playing in a empty stadium

Wow
Wot a nite it will be
A return to their spiritual home
For the first time since 1997 when they played a trial against the Hunter Mariners in the super league pre season
Wot a venue
Great memories
Should pull a great crowd & be a nostalgic nite for fans like me who remember the good old days
Thanks for starting this thread dumbo
Maybe we should all post our favourite Raiders moment from Seiffert oval
Mine
Raiders V Parramatta in 1983
Raiders only in their 2nd year ...Parramatta premiers for the previous 2 years
Raiders holding a slender 4-0 lead late in the game
David nanna Grant attacks the eels line & jumps clean over the parramatta defence NFL style to score the winning try
Crowd goes nutz
Great times
Great times

Yeah do the right thing taking a game back home and helping get the ground fixed up a bit for the local teams that play in the regional comps, all bad.
You know, I hated the raiders years ago when I lived in my old home town because it was blanket them when they were a power house and my team was fighting to stay alive in any of the comps. I feel the complete difference these days since I moved away and have seen them struggle since they took Uncle Ruperts 30 silver shillings that whole time. When I think about it, I hope they do get their fairy tale run like most others have had in the last 20 years even if most stumbled at the final hurdle and I have no doubt what so ever that the crowds will turn up, you only have to see the last time they hosted a final which sold out on an hour. The biggest reason I want to see them do well for a while at least is because I think it would give a boost to the local area and surrounds like yass and Goulburn and so on, the younger generation have a chance to support a local side, I was already an eel for life before the raiders came along so I was never going to change. It would be good for the kids in the area and it would be great to see you motherfuckers shut the hell up about the Raiders and their recent garbage history. (near every team with a bit of soul goes through these bad patches)

They do have fans. Point me to a game that no Raiders fan was at in Canberra.

Well the numbers for the Raiders are a hellava lot more than the zero the Nations capital gets weekly for the A League and AFL franchises based locally aye.

No, AFL doesn't get zero either. Couldn't comment on the A League as I am not aware if Canberra have hosted any games for points.
