Sydney Swans Limited post fourth straight profit
Swans Media
12 December 2014 4:00 PM
Sydney Swans Limited today announced a profit of $846,871 for the 2014 financial year.
It is the Club’s fourth successive profit and was achieved with revenue growth of just under nine per cent to $46.5m.
Sydney Swans Chairman Andrew Pridham said by virtually all measures the Club had a great year both on and off the field.
“Whilst we didn’t achieve the ultimate success we finished the home and away season with the most wins in a season ever for this club, we were minor premiers, and we played in two home finals,” he said.
“We exceeded 40,000 members for the first time and we had average crowds of 38,716 watch our home games and a gross TV audience of over 23 million.
“The financial result was pleasing given the Club’s continuing investment in fully resourced football operations and the continuing investment in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.
“We would not have achieved this without the continuing support of Principal Partner, QBE, and Major Partners, Citi and Volkswagen.
“We continue to provide a fully resourced Academy overseen by head coach Michael O’Loughlin, with a team of 60 coaches in the community and with over 570 boys aged nine to 13 in various Academy programs in four metropolitan and five regional locations.
“This investment returned a dividend this year with three Academy boys being drafted on to our primary list and one on to our rookie list – an amazing achievement for this non-traditional AFL state.
“Looking ahead, the Club has signed an historic 30-year agreement to play all home games at the SCG from the 2017 season. This is something our members have been telling us they want and it has been pleasing to be able to reach agreement with the SCG Trust.
“I would like to pay tribute to CEO Andrew Ireland and all of our staff for their dedication and hard work in 2014,” Pridham said.
And with 20,000 Swans Members already on board for 2015 (that's more than twice the Snot Green Briaders 2014 membership). The future is looking bright!

wot does that tell you wanker ?

still far more than any minnow NRL club
its double than the whole NRL average
considering the AFL introduced expansion teams of GWS & GCS, thats why the crowd figures have dropped a bit.
whats the NRL done, to explain its crowd drop
people getting board with league, following the soccer, union or AFL instead

still far more than any minnow NRL club
but going down dumbo
down
along with their TV ratings & interest in general
with no COLA
they'll be bottom 4 along with the Midgets ... Wions & Thuns regularly over the next 10 years
the Derps & misses
dead above the Murray .......... dead

Crowds have only been falling for the Swans because of the Giants. As mentioned they still have a higher average than any Sydney based NRL club. There's no hiding from that fact.
But the Bunnies are the big improvers and are a distinct threat if the Swans drop down the table.

most irrelevant clubs in Australia now and the next 10 years, thats if they last
Titans, broke, no fans
Raiders, no fans
Wests no fans
Storm, only team in sports mad melbourne, NRL, newsltd poured millions in to the club, they have won premierships, through cheating, been world champions, yet still no one in melbourne could care for them

The only club I think that's in big trouble from that list is the Titans. The Raiders have their issues but they have the room to recover. The Tigers just need to find the balance between Balmain and Wests. The Storm's issues are behind them and they are actually doing quite well considering.

The crowd average for the Swans tells a very different story, Raider Dave.

the raiders have no fans for FFS, the titans a financially fucked and have no fans, GCS pinched then

Wests are fucked no money and fans. the storm in a similar case considering how successful they have been, lost millions of dollars, crowds will drop off as they stop winning premiships
