How easy is it for someone to pick up a ball and cross a line one mile long.

Can't be that easy when Union, American Football and Rugby League all have much lower scores than AFL.

if the NRL didnt have have such a large area to score a try, the game would be even more boring

QFT. The defensive line in league is a rock solid wall. It takes clever ball work and foot work to get through it. It's also easier to put up such a defence because of what you are calling a negative when it's a big positive. Watching the tactics play out is one of the great things about league.

Even I am laughing at your response. Three codes use the tryline cocept because it works.

No team code in the world has extra side goals. Is just plain silly. Should be no points when you miss a shot a goal

Unless you want to avoid a truckload of draws, which I think is why they brought in the BEHINDS (not goals) in the first place.

You mentioned paddock ,& that's where a lot of these games are played. That's if the kiddies playground is being used .

AFL players have many skills. Extra sides are there to prevent draws. That's the real logic, AFLs for Pussies. The rugby league boys miss conversions and field goals as well you know. The NRL just opted for extra time and golden point instead.

LOL so true mate, and a field goal is harder to score than any goal in AFL.
AFL has no defence for their points for missing and they know how stupid it is

Bullshit! A field goal in rugby league and a shot on goal in AFL are EXACTLY the same in terms of difficulty! And there's no difference in accuracy. If the NRL went with outer posts, rugby league would have less draws! The only reason it wouldn't work is because a field goal is only worth a point anyway, and even if it went back to two points like it was decades ago one point for the miss is too much of a reward. One point against six points as it is for AFL is more realistic.

I'll throw in another reason why misses occur in AFL. The dribble kick. Great if it works, but it's harder than a regular kick to carry off. There are some smart arse players who want to be a hero and make fools of themselves doing it. As we know a field goal in league has to carry over on the full.
