NFL or AFL

Post by AFLsforPussies »

Just say the two rugby codes were not around but NFL and AFL was, which sport would you choose?

I honestly think I would pick NFL. Watched some NFL games as well as the womens LFL and both seem more entertaining than AFL.

Haha AFL Australias biggest game. I guess Australia only has 3 states in it then :(/

NFL is like a cousin of Rugby League. Both sports have conversion kicks, linebreaks, head on collision tackles. The two codes have more in common than AFL has ever had.

I know NFL fans will always relate to Rugby League more than the clumsy fumbler game where you can get a point for missing and drop the ball constantly.

NFL for me even though it's the slowest most boring crap on Earth, watchable when all the crap/timeouts/ads are taken out.

Hey, speed it up a bit and it'd be pretty close to RL.

Can't watch AFL, been trying to since the mid 70's, just doesn't do it for me.

I watch and enjoy both. The Superbowl is an international event and deserves it's high standing. It's heavy on tactical play and if you know what's going on it gives you the time to draw your own conclusions on what play should be next. If you watch enough of one team in a season you can work out a lot of their common plays. It's great fun to try and second guess the team with the ball.

AFL is a much quicker game and from that side of things it beats NFL. But blink and you'll miss something and that's a negative, especially on TV. Live it's not so bad but it's still an issue. I am amazed at the old footage I see with just one umpire. They could not possibly see everything even though the game looks fairly quick even though it seems not as quick as it is now.

I see it as comparing apples and oranges. On TV, I'll go with NFL. Live, I'll go with AFL. But either way it's close.
