good article and backs up the point that tv money is cool and all but what happens when those tv fans refuse to show up to games, buy memberships

leaving clubs in all codes grasping for cash

and there is only 1 code out of the big 4 or 5 that is bleeding cash because of it's inability to translate viewers into attendances because its fans refuse to show up to games....and we all know which one that is...

the NRL popularity consists of made up people from TV ratings land, piss poor crowds & pathetic membership figures, & sporting participation rates across the country
hence the reason why their crowds are so shit for what the NRL folk claim to be the most popular game in Australia!

the 2013 no broadcast revenue
AFL 268.3 million
Union 104.2 million
League 90 million (including the 15 odd million from SOO)
have no idea of what the A league revenue is as i cannot find the annual reports

its popularity is grossly inflated :(/

Good start to the Cricket, pity about the result.

Not a bad result for the first t20 on TV with 826k in the cap cities, should be fair decent when the regionals are added.

Yeah
1.4 million or so
So a tad under expectations
The season has started a lot earlier then normal though... I think a lot of people would of been unaware it was on.

the profit only came thanks to the extra money from the broadcast cast contract
the non broadcast revenue only proves how minnow the NRL is

We get 200+ million dollars a yr from media companies who take notice of made up people from TV land.

LOl.
Your stupidity is getting worse.
I didn't think it was possible .
But now you think that TV viewers are made up.

Why would these media companies outlay a billion dollars to broadcast something to fictional people.
How stupid are they .
The answer is on a forum
An insanely jealous illiterate liar could have saved them a fortune ..
If only they listened to him.

Get your carer to turn your PC off .
You've gone full retaaaard.

go the insults  sme one is having dummy spirts :)))

yeah so what, so does the AFL, it actually receives mores
the NRL hasnt grown in the last few years, crowds dropping & so has ratings & is only relevant in QLD & NSW
David Smith has stated for the last two years. for the NRL revenue to grow, crowds need to grow

yes those 5000 rating boxes hardly indicate the interest of 23 million Australians. networks can put anything on prime time and people will watch it.
i pointed out the non broadcast revenue as a key pointer to how big really games are outside of the broadcast dollar.
that is revenue, that comes from ticket sales, merchandise, sponsonsorship that people buy. the actual real grass roots supporters.
& looks like those invisible people from TV land aren't buying anything
