The A-League is unique from other codes as our best players eventually get sought out for by overseas clubs. Clubs have to pay a transfer fee to obtain a player that is under contract. The A-League has made millions from selling players and has produced some fine global talent for the international stage that is football 
Players can leave clubs when their contracts are up and no fee needs to be paid, but otherwise we make bank baby!!!!!!
Transfers aren't immune to RL either - wanna know the record transfer fee paid for a RL player in history? A measly $1.4m(what the warriors paid for Sam Tomkins
)...keep in mind, the record transfer for a soccer player is $154m that was paid by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale
