Thanks wookie, this is quite beautiful and the way it should be
I have the following points to make.
Firstly, it's a contact sport for fukks sake and no one was seriously injured as is the case in 99% of rl fights :D
Secondly, the referee deserved to be sent off immediately and rules should be brought in where refs miss blatant head attacks while a player is defenceless on the ground.
Thirdly, as the ref did jack diddly squat, The players were well within their rights to retaliate. If only the swans did the same on the weekend when buddy was elbowed and hannebury hit hard we might have had a more even sided result in the AFL on the weekend. Instead the swans acted like pussies and lay down and let hawthorn man handle em.
Fourthly, if you call that a strangling on the Dias, then you need a pair of glasses and a set of gonads, he had his jumper for fukks sake!
Finally, it's a grand final for crying out loud. you can't expect players not to be passionate while the season is on the line...well perhaps you can for the sydney swans and most other AFL teams...
It was all, quite simply, the referees fault.
Yours sincerely,
KE

why would you be proud of this rubbish, and you wonder why participation rates in your sport are falling
if you want to fight someone for real go join an mma or boxing gym and try to throw your weight around there
all i saw was a bunch of part time meathead tradies swing and miss + roll on the ground with eachother. nothing to be proud of aesthetically or morally

Typical shit comin from sydfc who supports a code of prissy long haired powder puffs who go "ouchy ouchy reffy reffy gimme a penalty" while rolling around on the grass after being softly brushed by an opposition players pigtails

Undignified, unethical, totally immoral.
In the RL grandfinal in contrast a man stood up for his dignity rather than let some wanker stand all over him and hit him in the face while he's down. That is dignified.
His teammates stood up against the illegality of the act when the ref didn't, they also protected their teammate. That is dignified.
The ref didn't do his job properly. He made an error and should be punished.
The guy who hit a player while down should be also penalised in some form but for now a few short lefts to the head is prob quite a fair outcome <>'
And noone was seriously hurt, instead, unlike in the swans game, a passionate and close GF took place. Says it all really.

what some backwards 50 something yr old thinks about this is irrelevant
the kids, and the parents that raise them - they're the future of every sport in this country. fighting like a bunch of dickheads is only going to give them more reason to try something else. but hey...if it makes you feel more like a man then do as you please
there are plenty of combat sports in the country you can try your hand at if you fancy a scrap... sissies, powder puffs, women bla bla bla that's fine, they'll keep playing the most popular participation sport in the country while yours continues to dwindle down.
luckily the nrl isn't as dumb and introduced the no punch rule, the days of seeing mullet wearing bogans fisting eachother are long gone my friend. there's a reason why you will only ever see this rubbish in the amateur and semi pro leagues

soccerpuss is angry!
It's actually not about the fighting at all really. It's the principles and morals.
Your code supports and condones lying to get ahead. My sports condones and supports sticking up for your mates and ensuring people don't get away with cheap shots.
It's beautiful. Just beautiful to watch.
Those soccer boys rollin round on the ground tho? Every single match?
Sickening shit and bad for children.

you are incorrect my friend - the no punch rule designates that no punches will be thrown in any match in the nrl. anyone that disobeys this rule is a cheat and is a violent cheat at that
talk about sticking up for your mates....you already lost this one silly because the nrl isn't sticking up for you

Yes it's against the rules and the first guy struck a bloke while he was on the ground. The ref did nuttin.
Sorry but from that moment the ref was wrong and retaliation was legitimised. This is a contact sport not ouchy ouchy ball sydfc. Screw your head on and then get back to me ok
Ref deserved 10mins inthe bin. As did the instigator. No one else.
Take this hypothetical syd fc. Your in a park walking with your dwarf pig dog and your pigtails are swaying In the wind. I rock up, dingo in tow, and decide to cut ur pigtails off with scissors before taking you down, holding you down pinned to the ground before grabbing your hand forcing yourself to slap yourself silly across the face.eanwhile my dingo has begun mauling your dwarf pug in preparation for a light meal.
There's a cop who rides by on a motorbike but completely misses it and rides off into the sunset. What do you do ?
A) retaliate
B) allow me to continue slapping you about the face with ur own hand because it's against societal
Rules to fight
???

we're talking about violence in sports ya silly noob
and as far as the nrl is concerned, your opinion is outdated and irrelevant
on the street i'd slap ya in the face and you wouldn't do a single thing about it
