the state comps had their grand finals today
in the SANFL we had Norwood thumping port adeliade in front of 38,644k
in the VFL we had footscray beating the box hill hawks in front of 23,816
in the WAFL we have east perth playing subiaco currently in progress not official crowd figure as yet
not a bad effort from the amateur leagues
now for the professional comp of the AFL and glorified shit show of the NRL's efforts
AFL had
swans vs north melbourne 48,029k
hawks vs port 74,856 k
NRL
shitney chicken rooters vs the norf qld cocksucking cowboys 18,355
cadbury bullfrogs vs the seaman eagles 28,186
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/AFL ... 7064092982
http://www.AFL.com.au/news/2014-09-21/vfl-grand-final
so we have 1 amateur GF in the SAFL out drawing both NRL games & the VFL GF out drawing 1 NRL game and going close to the other
and you bumsniffers dont see the need for alarm bells to be ringing. when you game is being outdrawn by amateur competitions
even after heavily discounted tickets and endless promotion!
oh but but ratings you will cry! if the there was any truth to those 5000k of rating boxes that represents 23 million Australians, surely the NRL could draw more people than some amateur comp grand finals
NRL

Amateur AFL
just how low will the NRL go

I was watching the NSW Cup semifinal games on TV today before i went to work
Knights were beating the Cutters
there was not a single person in the stands
Even FFA Cup attendance put that shit to shame

Yep hit the nail on the head there Leagueiscrap - there just is not the interest from the public in Sydney towards league anymore - Crowds way down, ratings down and no doubt $$$ down as well - a second rate comp that is slowly losing out to RU and A League!

did some research and QLD Cup attendances are a lot better than NSW Cup, varies from a couple 100 to a couple thousand depending on the team. So while it's significantly more supported and followed than the NSW Cup, it still lags behind 2nd tier AR and Soccer Leagues. If we consider Super 15 to be the top tier of RU in Australia then it also lags behind the Shute Shield(NSW's based Rugby comp[tier 3]) and the new national rugby union comp that started this year[NRC] which have been drawing crowds 2-3k on for most games.
QLD Cup finals apparently broke their own record at Suncorp on the weekend, so i guess, congrats on that front. But the NSW Cup and the rest of the RL lower leagues aren't drawing a shoe
So I guess the QLD cup is the one shining beacon on a year of lows for RL when it comes to attendances

how many people did show up to that game at Suncop? they had been advertising that game more than kfc advertise their new crispy chicken burgers

Can't find any info on it, just heard it was a record attendance, going go out on a limb and say maybe 5-6k+ given the largest attendance of the season leading up to that game was 4k in FNQ
Ive noticed as well that teams have much more identity in the QLD Cup. They aren't flooded with out of form NRL players and reserves who are farmed out like the NSW Cup is. You can wonder why clubs in the NSW Cup don't have a fan base when essentially they're just pub reserve side for NRL clubs. This also happens in QLD but nowhere near to the same extent.
