A-League moving from SBS2 to SBS primary channel

Interesting... I wonder if the tv ratings will improve?
SBS has made the right call by shifting its A League coverage to its primary channel this season. The move came after lobbying from Football Federation Australia, which was disappointed Friday night matches were shown on SBS2 last season. SBS, typically, did an excellent job through the World Cup, and still sells itself as the home of soccer - something Fox Sports would dispute - but that claim is hollow if the local competition is banished to a secondary channel.

Might bump it up by 1 or 2k

And that's because you have morons out there that have no idea how to change the channels so they get their grand kids to put it on the main non english speaking channel and leave it there :(/

SBS has never rated any good outside an ashes series they fluked to get when the other lot didn't think it would rate and when they have had the sokka wc on.

Outside that, nothing to write home about.

The ratings for the a league this season were awful on sbs. For all the noise made by soccer fans whinging and whining about a fair go and all that, the ratings stunk.

Evidence from the AFL would suggest that it will. AFL ratings dropped like a rocket when moved from Seven to 7mate in Queensland, New South Wales and Perth. Matches on foxsports 1 and 2 rate far less than matches shown on foxfooty. Im almost certain that experience would be mirrored if the NRL could get their games off GEM and onto Nine in Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne.

I dont know why this is the case, as Parra says above, morons cant figure out how to change channels apparently.
It's got me beat, maybe the footy codes aren't as popular as we thought and now that people have a choice to watch something outside of friday night football, they do. A few years back we had 9, 7, 10, abc and sbs, not much variety when you think about it and some people would rather watch the footy back then instead of some repeat on the non sports showing channel or the news on another or some program from another country with subtitles. These days even though FTA is still garbage, there's definitely more crap you can watch if sport isn't your forte.

good decison

they started off last season showing the friday night games on sbs1 but moved it to sbs2 after a few rounds

correct me if im wrong wookie but the opening 3 or 4 friday night games on sbs1 were averaging 150k-200k, but after it was shafted to sbs2 it leveled out at 100k or less

sbs have been at the forefront for soccer viewership for a long time. their world cup coverage was absolutely brilliant and they were rewarded with great ratings. now for the a-league to do its part

Come on Cuzzy ,where is the proof.
You have a habit of making claims with no proof & then ignore when asked to provide.

Which window were you looking in when you heard this.
