Channel 10 used to do pretty well showing on both ten and One across the country. Only ran two games on Saturdays, with seven/nine doing fridays and sundays
ok, channel 10 have never really been the ratings leader but have lost a heap of ground overall in the ratings. they grabbed the rights to the BBL last year. they showed nearly all of the games live & in prime time, & it rated through the roof so maybe it could be a good thing if they did get the broad cast rights.
in your opinion would it be better for the AFL to stick with 7 or head to 10?

Ch 9 won't bid
Gyngall despises the Victardian crap ... he has stated this publically
Channel 7 wouldn't comment
wonder why ?
oh yeah
they are livid this simulcasting crap has cost them tens of millions of viewers & if the VFL insists it continues with the next deal
probably won't bid either
leaving Australias 3rd ... poorest .. & lowest rating commercial channel to have the VFL along with Foxtel
with no competitive tension
1.5 Billion for 5 years
3.5 Billion for 10
the NRL to get 4 Billion over the next 10 years for their deals

Shut yer whining wookie. He's putting two and two together and coming up with four. Something you AFL clowns should learn to do quick stikks or there'll be even less reasoning for the AFL to receive big stakes. The international cup is the laughing stock if world sport and any independent auditor worth his work would pick up how much the AFL are throwin down the shitter. The khunt izzy experiments another example. Spending a million on development... Wait for it... In china!!

dear Lordy any fool would know you'd be better off spending it on countries whose sporting culture and language is more in common

Makes really good sense for both ch7 and the AFL to lock in a 10 year deal.
I would hope any network who takes the deal refreshes their outlook and not presume every ex-player is suitable for commentary.
Ten are definitely hurting and nine would love AFL but cannot see them going all out.

I don't think so crapper. I think a 10 year deal is too long and the AFL would be crazy to go down this line. With the growth it is experiencing why would you lock on 10 years. Unlesssss you're thinking there is a down trend coming and wanting to lock a long term in early to avoid a falling price ? Hmmmmmm.

Part of the article mentions paying off Docklands early. That could produce indirect savings.
