MORE CROWD PAIN
To give you some idea about how well AFL is travelling against the NRL, compare the crowds of the premiers from both codes in recent weeks.
Hawthorn has attracted 30,000, 35,000 and 72,000 to their last three matches. That’s a remarkable average of 45,000 per game.
The Roosters have attracted 6000, 5000 and 19,676 to yesterday’s game in New Zealand lifted their average to 10,000. In fairness they’ve had some ordinary weather but so too have Hawthorn.
It’s a worry when such a great footy side with so many high profile players like SBW, Mitch Pearce, Michael Jennings JWH, Mini and a couple of wonderful wingers can’t get more fans through the turnstiles while they are fighting to make the top four.

its funny the sydney folk complain about a bit of rain and bad weather as an excuse for a bad turn out to a NRL game, to the melbourne folk

i agree sydney siders are more lazy than the rest of the population but a lot of that is from the nrl side of things
soccer fans in sydney will go to matches rain hail on shine, no matter what position we are on the table. im gonna assume aussie rules fans are the same
the nrl just has too much of a lazy hand out mentality. too many people unemployed soaking up our hard earned taxes via welfare...its sickening

You're right about Sydney and AFL and soccer fans sydneyfc. NRL fans really do let their code down when it comes to getting off their arse and out to support their teams/code. Again last night just 8k showing up for the Panthers who were playing for potential minor premiership. Awful NRL fans, just plain awful how you don't support your clubs.

Weird how rain doesn't stop 50k people attending the Crows v Richmond game a few weeks back.
Yuou can't just start an attendance culture. Ours has developed over generations. This is the reason why they're having so much trouble increasing their average attendance to 20k. It's not a switch you can just turn on.

its easy to say the NRL fans constantly let their teams down. but how many fans the the NRL actually have?
they have the crowds to what the AFL had in the 60s. the AFL was built up filling suburban grounds, then moved in to stadiums, & continues to grow
the NRL is still stuck playing in front of empty suburban grounds. they had a billion take it from the ABC to channel 9 & rammed it in every ones faces.
there is no use trying to continue trying squeeze water out of a stone
the reason why the NRL continue to get crap crowds is simply because the fans are not there

just because you crybabies don't like being slapped with some reality doesn't mean he's a fraud
