Sydney Swans amongst the least supported

Despite premiership wins and constant assurances of growth in the rugby league stronghold of NSW, the AFL would be disappointed by the lack of sales of Sydney Swans merchandise.
Unable to convert on-field success to the retail domain, the Swans rank in the bottom half of AFL teams.
Yet puzzlingly, the Swans’ uniform is also Australia’s richest playing strip, accruing the greatest guernsey sponsorship revenue across all codes. Strategically targeting blue-chip sponsors, the team known as ‘The Bloods’ have not attracted the blue-collar retail dollar.
No one wants to buy their gear, no one in NSW wants to watch them on TV and the general interest of actual NSWelshmen is absolutely minimal.
Yep, as we have all known for a long time now, the Swans can only seem to get expat Victorians to their games each 2nd week who are up here following their team from home or because they are away from home and need a footy fix.

NZ Warriors smash the Swans, yet the Swans have a population nearly double what the Warriors do to get fans from.
Haha.
Ironically, Australia’s best-selling team is not actually Australian. The New Zealand Warriors, through their huge expat following, have generated the greatest sales.
But but but no one wants those Kiwi sheep shaggers in RL according to the fumblefans.
pure envy more like it.

Just a serious question. How do sales compare to nrl club sales? I thought nrl merchandise was pretty good in the sales so would be interesting .

Highest sponsorship but the normal people (supposed fans) couldn't give a stuff.
Just shows how the Swans continually survive when you really think about it, without the AFL help, the swans wouldn't last 3 seasons.

The article says they're in the bottom half of the AFLs merchandise sales, which could mean they are 10th. Comparing that to the power AFL clubs is still reasonable.
But of course in true RL style the bottom half means "none". Jealous of their better crowds and sponsorships much?

Sydney don't change their jumper every 5 min - NRL changes their jumpers every week - couldn't give a flying fuck as it says when it comes to spinsorship Swans are number one!, when it comes to members Swans are number one! When it comes to crowd average Swans are number one! Enough said - have your merchandising just means RL has little sense of history or culture and the ONLY value they place on their jumper is how much they can shake down their fans for each year - FFS comic book hero round give me a break!

well considering the article was written for rugby league week, and it has no actual proof to its content.
the AFL rapes the NRL sponsorship & revenue & individual merchandise sales the article is a load of crap

Just a rugby league puff piece absolutely no credibility - didn't the Swans annual report put merchandising well above ANY RL club in Sydney Adam??? I bet their talking about all the RL clubs in Sydney combined against the Swans!!!
