Clarence
* COACH: Nick Davey.
* LAST YEAR: 1st.
* GAINS: Nick Leitch (Victoria), Justin Ellis (break), Lyndon Fahey (Northern Bombers), Nathan Hollis (St Helens), Adam Wiles (Adelaide University), Hayden Thorpe (Lauderdale), David O'Toole.
* LOSSES: Darren Winter (retired), Jarrod Garth (Geelong), Justin Sherman (Brisbane), Trent Moore.
* COACH SAYS: We'll be a similar side to the past couple of years. We've got a good bunch of young players involved with the Mariners and the Devils who we expect will play some good footy for us. Our aim is to win the flag again. There's a lot of hard work to get to that stage but we'll be aiming for a place in the top three and review our plan from there.

Brighton

* COACH: Garry Splann.
* LAST YEAR: 8th.
* GAINS: Justin Rainbird (New Norfolk), Alan Walker.
* LOSSES: Alan Haw (Sorell), Tom Jones (North Hobart), Nathan Hartnett (Hobart).
* COACH SAYS: We'll be a lot more competitive and fitter unit this year with a lot more discipline.
We've done a lot of work so hopefully we'll be able to run with teams a lot better this year.
In the past it has been frustrating to be competitive with teams until half-time and then drop away because of poor fitness because blokes weren't turning up to training.
Our fitness should be an area of big improvement.

Hobart
* COACH: Ian Wilson.
* LAST YEAR: 5th.
* GAINS: Andrew Best (returning to club), Josh Dykes (returning), Brendan Davis (Clarence), Martin Johnson (Devils).
* LOSSES: Michael McGregor (Huonville Lions), Sam Unsworth (Kingston), Tim Peterson (North Hobart).
* COACH SAYS: Our aim is to earn the respect of our opposition every time we take the field. Hobart supporters can expect value for money when they see us play. We are extremely fit, more aggressive and a better skilled side. We've been pre-season training for the past five months, which included a three-day camp in Melbourne. We trained at Arden St and Kangaroos assistant coach Donald McDonald took the boys for training and Brady Rawlings spoke to the boys.

Glenorchy
* COACH: David Newett.
* LAST YEAR: 3rd.
* GAINS: Michael Bannister (OHA), Craig Grace (OHA), Ryan Keeley (Ulverstone), Simon Spencer (Launceston).
* LOSSES: Matthew Burns, Adam Henley, Jamie Kaye, Adam Ransley (all Kermandie), Damian McIvor (overseas), Nick Green (Victoria), Shaun Salter, Jason Britain, Brad Owen (all New Norfolk).
* COACH SAYS: We're obviously looking to improve on third. With the list we've got, making the finals is an obtainable goal. We've got some talented young players and some exciting recruits. Some of the young blokes are only 17 and 18, so they're going to be long-term prospects. Keep an eye out for David Hunt, Patrick Ross and James Kappelar. And we've still got a strong core of experienced senior players.

Kingborough
* COACH: Adrian Goodwin.
* LAST YEAR: 4th.
* GAINS: Adam Doran (Hutchins), Sam Unsworth (Hobart), Brady Jones (underage), Josh Kline (North Hobart), Stuart Clark (break), Chris Joyce (Huonville).
* LOSSES: Craig Roberts (Channel).
* COACH SAYS: The new players we've got and a number of big targets up forward like Sam Unsworth, Chris Booth and Chris Joyce force a different game plan this year.
We'll play a more direct style of footy and have the usual aggression.
We're a lot more fleet of foot and we expect a big improvement from our young players.

Lauderdale
* COACH: Scott Allen.
* LAST YEAR: 7th.
* GAINS: Geoff Spriggs (Wagga Wagga), Ben Stewart (Kermandie), Heath Sims (Richmond), Fabian Ackroyd (Rich) Sam Lonergan (Mariners).
* LOSSES: Hayden Thorpe (Clarence), Brendan Bentley (Richmond), Jim Penwright (Sorell), Daniel Kirk (South Australia), Aaron Connor (retired).
* COACH SAYS: We have improved a lot this year. We've brought in half a dozen players from our under-19 side which gives us a lot more speed and ground coverage.
We've also recruited some experienced senior players. We've been in the competition for a year now so there's a lot of expectation on us to improve this year.

New Norfolk
* COACH: Matthew Smith.
* LAST YEAR: 2nd.
* GAINS: Shaun Salter (Glenorchy), Brad Owen (Glenorchy), Jason Britain (Glenorchy, Nathan Barwick (Mt Pleasant), Dean King (from retirement).
* LOSSES: Chris Sproule (retired), Richard Rawnsley (Penguin assistant coach), Matthew Jones (retired).
* COACH SAYS: The way we played in the grand final last year was really disappointing. We've tried not to focus on that too much, though it will be in the back of the players' minds. We want to do better this year. We'll play the same style but we are a two or three-goal-a-game better side this year and our initial aim is to secure a place in the top three.

North Hobart
* COACH: Brendon Bolton.
* LAST YEAR: 6th.
* GAINS: Josh Smith (Smithton), Brent Williams (overseas), Tim Peterson (Hobart), Nick Barling (Devils).
* LOSSES: Ryan Innes (Launceston), Josh Kline (Kingborough), Scott Sydes (Queensland).
* COACH SAYS: Look forward to a very committed bunch of players who are striving as best they can to improve individually in all aspects of their game.
We've got no real expectations on where we're going to finish. Our whole focus is on improving, doing everything we can to maximise our ability.
All efforts our supporters are going to see will be genuine.
Dave.
