On the back of a record membership base of 36000k in 2013 and a very healthy profit of $646,746 the Swans are going from strength to strength in 2014 announcing that last years record membership has been surpassed after round 1 of the 2014 season!!!!!

The Sydney Swans have reached a historic milestone this morning, with the club surpassing the all-time membership record. The 36,370th member signed up with the Swans today, eclipsing the previous record which was set in 2013. The milestone is even more significant given the club is also over 4,500 members ahead of where they were at at the same time last season. Sydney Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh said the record membership tally was a sign of just how far the club has come. “We’ve reached a huge milestone at our football club, we’ve broken our membership record,” McVeigh said. “From a few thousand fans back when we first arrived in Sydney to over 36,000 members, it’s just a terrific result. “The players, the coaching staff and everyone involved at the club are so proud to have our membership rising up every week and now we’re broken the record, we can’t wait to grow even more.” The Swans have added 6723 new members for the 2014 season, many through the club’s successful Nominate Your Mate recruitment program, which has seen 956 members nominated by a friend or family member to join this season, which is also a club record. Swans co-captain Kieren Jack said today’s result was a big step towards the club’s goals of reaching 40,000 members in 2014. “For a Sydney-based club up against so many different codes and different teams, it really is a great milestone,” he said. “We want to thank all our members for their efforts so far, but ideally what we’d like to do is push for 40,000 members. “So, get your friends on board and tell your family, and we’d love to see you all at the footy this year.” Co-captains Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack hold the membership tally board highlighting the new record. The Swans will play their first home match of the season this weekend, when Collingwood travel to ANZ Stadium. Swans CEO Andrew Ireland said Saturday’s night was the perfect opportunity for the club’s new members to show their support. “While it was disappointing to lose the opening round match of the season, the team will be looking to bounce back this week against Collingwood,” Ireland said. “We’ll need our members with us every step of the way this year, so I encourage every Swans supporter to come out to ANZ Stadium this Saturday night to cheer on the team against one of our biggest rivals, Collingwood."

With the next NRL club being South Sydney 28740 - almost 8000 members behind the Swans (which is more than the paltry 7000 members that were stupid enough to sign up with the snot greens from Canberra!) the Swans are again undoubtably THE BIGGEST CLUB in NSW!!!!

You never discuss other indicators which are far more reliable, average crowds, sponsorships, total revenues - he'll even pay tv figures - yet the one stat you place an overwhelming reliance on - yet people that watch FTA don't necessarily follow that club, code or product - there is no antidotal evidence other than a VERY small percentage of the population which could be easily manipulated by where the sets are placed - again if TV set boxes were considered RELIABLE then why does the Swans have more sponsorship (and GWS for that matter) than all RL clubs - no one puts money into sponsorship unless it helps promote their brand particularly at the highest level.

As for members in Sydney the Swans have 9000 interstate members which means 27k+ are from NSW again it puts them in front on THAT alone, but adding revenue, crowd averages, sponsorship and Membership NO other club comes close!!!!

Fail again RD - and doesn't it really mess you up that the Swans have more interstate members than the ENTIRE snot greens from Canberra membership in total!
