Don't take our word for it leaguies, your own CEO says you're number 2 in this country. 4 years from now and you'll apparently be No.1. :(/ :(/ :(/
Expansion is firmly back on the agenda after the NRL announced plans to invest more than $200 million to make rugby league the No.1 code in Australia within four years.

While Smith stopped short of declaring war on the AFL and other rival codes, he said: ''Wind the clock forward five years and we will be the biggest sporting community in Australia

The arrogance is truly astounding. Bit like David Gallop declaring Soccer would be Number 1 in Australia in years to come. Yeah, yeah, we've heard it all before No.2.

It doesn't matter how serious he is. The apathy of RL fans is the problem, not their CEO.

as smart punters have said in recent years
Rugby League will be the code of the next 20 years

As I stated, he can do what he likes. It won't change the fact NRL supporters don't like rain, cold, hot, traffic, travel, or any other distraction.

Your CEO isnt the problem, its pea hearts like you.

Read a bit further
The usual FUMBLEBALL outright LIES (WHEN IT COME TO NUMBERS)are talked about.

Holmes said the rebuilding Lions were working closely with the AFL to convert suburban and country-based participants into regular attendees at AFL matches.

''The AFL has now approximately 155,000 people playing the game here in Queensland              , which is fantastic. Then you add the volunteers and mums and dads involved, [making that] :(/ :(/ :(/ probably over 400,000,'' he said. :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

''From the Lions, our membership is growing, we are on track to be up from last year.''

But the challenge facing the club was reinforced when Lions' head of coaching, Peter Schwab, said on Monday the club generally received less media attention in Brisbane than Melbourne's sole NRL side, the Storm, did in its home town.

Fair dinkum can anyone associated with this sport tell the truth.

That equates to about 6200 TEAMS(25 per team ).& 2.5 mums & dads per player...Maybe they were bringing a pet along.
Yet only 7000 players signed up in Brissy last yr .
The lowest of any of the football codes & even behind netball..

How can anyone (other than delusional ******** who lap this shit up) believe a word that comes out of the mouth of any official.

You're really too stupid to understand they are quoting figures including Auskick?

So do you agree the NRL is currently second?

Will any rugby league supporter admit to the obvious that us AFL supporters have been telling them for years? How about admitting the truth for once leaguies? Or perhaps your NRL CEO is wrong? Which is it?

an interview david smith did 27 of jan
Is rugby league the No. 1 sport in Australia?

Yes. It matters to millions of people and I think the opportunity is to grow this thing into the best it can be, which is the No. 1 code. I want to keep it that way and develop this great game into something we're all really proud to be a part of, be it as an administrator, sponsor, fan, parent or young boy or girl who plays rugby league.

reality is starting to set in, start of 2013 he believed all of the hype from the other bumsniffer admin team about having the number 1 code in Australia. now at seasons end, he has conceded that the nrl is number 2
