Can any AFL fan out there show me anywhere on EARTH ,besides TAS,that has any area or region Bidding for a team .

Anywhere ..

Crickets chirping :(/ :(/ :(/

At the moment the NRL has people knocking down their door to get teams in.
PNG..BID...just admitted to Q cup..NRL long way off with the infrastructure & security problems ,but they have a team in an AU comp ..
Bris Bombers ..BID.
Western corridor ..BID.
Combined Brothers RL ...BID.
Central QLD ..BID..
Central Coast ..Bid.
Perth ..bid...with interest by a private consortium.
Wellinton NZ ..BID.
& now another.
Second group emerges to press Wellington expansion claims

Two separate syndicates are preparing bids for an NRL franchise based in Wellington.
The news comes as NRL chief executive Dave Smith, delighted by a spectacular opening day of the Auckland Nines, revealed the renewed push to grow league in New Zealand.
Smith would not be drawn on the prospect of a second franchise but spoke about his organisation's plans to increase its presence in the country.
A group featuring Wellington Rugby League boss Jason Hemson is ready to submit a proposal to bring an NRL team to the capital. But Fairfax Media can reveal a second high-powered group, based in Australia but including potential Kiwi investment, has also been exploring the prospect of lobbying for a second team.

Shane Harmon, CEO of Wellington's Westpac Stadium, confirmed an approach from the second group ''about the possibility of basing a team or partly basing a team in Wellington''.
''That hasn't been from the NRL … we understand that these individuals are talking to a number of New Zealand cities,'' he said. ''I don't know who their backer is. They have said there are some New Zealand backers.''
Hemson confirmed his group's intentions. ''When the NRL gives an indication they want bids for expansion, we will be ready to go,'' he said.
That will not be before 2017 when the NRL's broadcast deal expires. Smith confirmed expansion discussion would begin at the end of this season but the former banker cautioned there would be no rushed decisions. ''When we understand where all the pieces are, then we can start to make big strategic decisions for the right reasons,'' he said.

So this really puts to bed the delusional fantasies of Fumblefans who claim RL is dying..

I would rather be in our position of so much interest ,V AFLs position of picking a spot on the map & foisting an unasked for unwarranted team on them...

& love the last Paragraph by Smith.
Smart man ,if I remember correctly he asked that all bids had to have a self sufficient MODEL($$$$$$),as the NRL would not be propping any new teams up..

A bit different to the 10s of millions pissed up the wall with the giants..& the floodgates don't look like closing soon :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

yep

the VFL has hit the limits of its realistic expansion capabilities

they've fucked up this latest stage badly aswell by rushing it & even after 30 years
continue to have to allow the NSW teams unfair advantages over the rest of the comp so they remain competitive
take these away ( & its on the agenda to return some integrity to its comp ) & they will fail

its in serious strife is the fumbles & bumbles

I like how you put "besides Tasmania" in there.... :drunk:

The AFL have recently undertaken aggressive expansion and will consolidate for at least another 10 years I'd say.

By then Tasmania could well be ready, as could another Perth team given their 2 teams are bursting with fans.

http://blogs.abc.net.au/wa/2012/09/west ... -team.html
The Eagles and the Dockers are performing extremely well at the moment but now there are calls for a third West Australian football team to be introduced into the national league in the next ten to twenty years.
Minister for Regional Development, Brendon Gyrlls, has said he'd like to see a Pilbara based AFL team happen in his lifetime and AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou has also flagged the possibility.

So where's the bid from South Australia? Tasmania? Northern Territory? Regional Victoria?

Expanding means covering everything - not just bits and pieces. Expand or die. AFL is expanding. NRL is not. It's over flooding established areas with too many clubs. A second Brisbane team will stiff worse than the Giants.

It wouldn't be right in the Pilbara you clown. Perth will be nudging 2mil in a decade, so 3 teams could easily be supported.

:(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

Words fail me .
How to deal with the utter utter stupidity.

SA is a long long way down the track.
TAS ..NOT ENOUGH INTEREST.& they have no AFL team either.

NT will never have a top team from any code..the humidity & small population make sure of that.
(& where is the NT bid in the AFL.).
Regional ViC.. :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ .
RL bosses are smart enough to know 1 team in VIC is enough.
Pity Vlad didn't settle for 1 in NSW ..The new one is costing a small fortune for very very little return.

& You some how think a 2nd team in Bris will fail like the Giants..
:(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/
Oh my..
it shows how very little you know about RL in the NORTH..

PS there are more NON broncos fans in Brissy than Bronco fans.

You are a simpleton..FACT.

Needed to be said

Firstly , tassie want a team ...

Secondly, AFL have already expanded ...and have no plans in near future . Why would people be lobbying for a team in that case. AFL have expanded and are consolidating. Nrl are years behind and hence are still talking about expanding. They'll get there though.

Also, AFL still the number 1 football code in Australia.

Why would anyone be bidding for a new AFL team now when theyve only just expanded?
