Wow, 2,000 fans for a Swans inter club hit out.

Buddy is going to be massive in Sydney for years to come. The media seem to love him up here too. :thumbleft:
Sydney Swans' star recruit Lance Franklin proves he can draw a crowd

If Lance Franklin expected moving to Sydney would allow him peace and space compared to the suffocating world of football-mad Melbourne, he was given a reminder that, on the field at least, he is going to draw a huge amount of attention in his adopted city.

Rusted on Swans fans might wish it was the club's array of stars that drew several hundred - some were saying more than 2000 people - to the team's intra-club hit-out at Lakeside Oval, just outside the Sydney Cricket Ground, on Wednesday evening.

If it were Collingwood, Geelong or even Franklin's old club Hawthorn, a crowd at, effectively, a training session would be par for the course. But at the Swans? They'd never seen anything like this.

Transmission towers loomed high in the air and sent back live crosses from half a dozen or so reporters before and during the game. A news chopper took footage from above of the swelling crowd, three or four deep from the fence surrounding the team's training ground.

The smell from a nearby sausage sizzle wafted across the Swans membership tent, a merchandise table and stalls of local teams looking to sign up kids. Even Ciggy the Swans mascot was there. All the big guns were deployed.

They were there to see Franklin and his new teammates go near-full tilt as part of their preparation for the upcoming pre-season clashes against GWS next week and, later, West Coast and Brisbane.

Jesus ,you fumblers are a laugh.
Who are the some .
My bet would be those AFL media writers on VLADs payroll.

& we know how the truth gets lost when numbers are mentioned with AFL.

wow someone(in the AFL propaganda team) thought that was news worthy?? this sort of promotion stinks of victorian AFL cronie to me.. the poor swans, they came to sydney and slowly over the 30yrs built up a niche following and general respect from all sydneysiders, and the AFL bosses through arrogant and 'look at me' promotion of anything AFL into the sydney media hopelessly believing it will somewhat improve the popularity of AFL in Sydney and the cities ugly ducklings (GWS). GWS's credibility in sydney cant sink much lower but media grabs like this one by the AFL and AF fans posting about it in online forums will start to damage the swans brand which again took 30 years and still counting...

the swans promoted the event and had junior AFL players attend to train with the swans. all this is a good idea by the swans but the AFL then use these 100 or 200 children and add their parents and siblings and add the people who actually went to oval to watch buddy and the swans and add the random passers by at a PUBLIC park, add them all up then publish a news article how there was 1000 fans at the swans training game is a joke and sad tbh

Carefully selected pics that don't show the actual crowd size. Well done.

Wow ,Rd & I called it before you posted those pics.
The fumble calculator is getting a workout .
Maybe they left it in "PARTICIPATION NUMBERS " mode.

For the simpletons like Cwapper that means it is stuck on X 10
