40,000 Sydney Swans Members in 2014

Read and weep leaguies. The Sydney Swans are on track to reach 40,000 members after posting their third successive profit. Last I heard we already had signed over 36,000 members for this coming season. Surely 40,000 members is possible to cement the Swans as the biggest sporting club in NSW. Can't wait to see the full house sign up at the new redeveloped SCG this season. Some massive crowds expected at ANZ Stadium no doubt too with massive blockbusters scheduled against Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond.
Sydney Swans 2013 financial results
Swans Media December 12, 2013 11:28 AM
Sydney Swans Limited today announced a profit of $646,745 for the 2013 financial year.
It is the Club’s third successive profit.
The result was announced by retiring Chairman, Richard Colless AM, who attended his last board meeting today having served on the board for over 20 years.
“2013 highlights the vagaries of operating an elite football team with this year the Club experiencing its highest number of injuries in the last ten years with many games played with almost half the premiership team not playing. Despite this, the Club not only did well on the field but it also did well off the field to post a reasonable profit.
“I am really pleased we managed to grow our membership to over 36,000 off the back of our premiership year in 2012 as we welcomed over 10,000 new members to the Club.
“We are targeting over 40,000 members in 2014.

And they'll get them while the NRL clubs flounder behind them.

It certainly is going to be an interesting year in Sydney - a Swans team brimming with big names and playing at a high class stadium and probably the watershed year for GWS.

yes indeed
will George Jetson , the Telle Tubbies & the Iron Chef hand the SWines their nutz in a cup re TV ratings again in 2014
will be a close thing but if the Swines can win the premiership again
they may just topple one of the above 3

They are already thrashing George and the TT's, Dave! Iron Chef might have had the odd win but that will soon end! Iron Chef beats NRL in Victoria, SA, WA and Tasmania!!

There is a thread over at Big Fumbly discussing the " BULLSHIT" that is memberships..
Interesting reading.
Seems even the fumblefans know that the chestbeating over membershios is a pile of steaming crap.

Why do nrl types always try and find the negative in any AFL ? Even if you take 10000 off their membership it's still a good total. Even the nrl commission are acknowledging the need to boost membership and develop a culture of membership like the AFL has. Good on them too as I think it would be good for the nrl. Not sure why the nrl folk here are so anti AFL. It's like they are more obsessed in putting down the AFL then they are in their interest of nrl. Smacks of jealousy really.

I call bullshit on that story. Why didn't he hand it back and say "No thank you. I'm a Parramatta supporter."?

But the money still went into the Swans coffers! No self respected rugby league fan would be a part of that, goose! He want the buyer to go get his money back and take it off them!
But of course you didn't think of that did you?
