Over the years we have come to see many excuses or explanations used by some nrl folk to try and downplay AFL success or twist stats and spin rationales as to how nrl is doing better.

Let's list a few here and give predictions for 2014.

AFL posters only please as we've kind of heard all the nrl propaganda and slanted view of the truth before.

So some previous ones

Nrl is popular on foxtel ... 77 or something nrl games in top 100... Then AFL goes to fox and dominates and all of a sudden fox figures are irrelevant or .. Wait for it... Are counted twice lol. Still waiting for Dave to explain how this works lol.

Then there's the one where when you compare who is watching what ... Well AFL just have to include fta figures only .... Don't worry about all those watching superior coverage on fox lol ... Or you can only include fox ... Forget all those people watching on 7 who can't afford fox lol.

Of course, there's the gf ratings ... To see which game is more popular in Australia ... Oh hang on let's add in New Zealand figures lol ... And replays ... True !! Cause people watching in nz is a reflection of the nrl gf popularity in Australia lol.

And a golden oldie ... AFL craps over nrl is 5 city market .... Oh oh Roy masters yells Regionals,.. And try to claim victory there .... They still lose but it is closer .... Of course, keys forget the AFL regionals ... Or pluck some percentage out of the air to reflect regionals lol. Of course if the nrl were winning the ratings in 5 city metro we would never have heard to cry fir regional figures. The reality is, tv execs still only care for 5 city metro.


Anyway, let's have a bit of light hearted fun AFL posters and predict next years excuses or attempted manipulation/spin from our nrl brethren.

AFL crowds in Adelaide are up only because people want to look at the new stadium!!!

Any crowds that the giants or suns get are fabrications and really only a third of official figures. All nrl crowds are legitimate.

AFL have been paying for people to attend the giants games.

Go for it people.

the AFL has really brought a bunch of cardboard cut outs off the NRL to place in stadiums to give the appearance that there are actual people turning up to the games

All AFL memberships are pet memberships (couldn't resist!)

NRL has a bigger international audience, which makes NRL bigger in Australia!

Whatever we see, it won't be original.......

The suns will be lambasted as crap and a failure if they lose and the comp will be considered manipulated and they got an unfair advantage if they win lol ..... See suns for the 8 thread.

the weather was really bad all season in NSW, thats why the NRL crowds where down, cant wait until they build that roof at allianz stadium, then will be sell outs every game there

people didnt turn up to the eels matches early in the season because the wanderers were playing (apparently)

It has to be really good if it isn't already on the Cos789 Official List.
