LUCKY THE SHARKS ARE NOT IN THE AFL otherwise they would face the same penalty as Essendon a 2 mil dollar fine - this club is like some skint pensioner trying to win tatts lotto - how pathetic!

Beleaguered Sharks chase Nines prize money

Cash-strapped Cronulla admit the lure of a half-million-dollar bonanza is giving the Sharks extra incentive to take out the inaugural Auckland Nines rugby league tournament.

The NRL on Thursday launched the event and Sharks playmaker Todd Carney said the massive prize money on offer on February 15 and 16 had his beleaguered club treating the tournament very, very seriously.

The Sharks are still without a major sponsor and have the spectre of a $1 million fine hanging over them as punishment for their 2011 supplements program.

All up, $2.25 million will be up for grabs in Auckland with all clubs guaranteed $90,000 for playing and the winners to bank a whopping $370,000 bonus.

Should the Sharks triumph, they wold collect a total of $460,000 - almost five times the carrot offered for capturing the NRL minor premiership.

this is a team in the NRL, that cannot attract a sponsor, only goes to prove's how the popularity of league is over rated.
but still as long as they have loosers in the local area of Crunulla, wasting all their money on the pokies at the leagues club, & the joke of a commission the NRL is. the sharks will live to fight another season

Very fucking lucky
Yeh its good to see a sport where the CEO ,lets a drug investigation run its course, without interfering, trying to do shady deals, etc.

One sport is smelling like a rose at the moment & its not the one with the corruption headlines

And this will affect the AFL HOW???? The crowds will be as big, the revenue and the TV ratings - it's a blip on the screen not the begining of the end - yet NRL one problem to another!

Maybe the soo being the biggest sporting event. The others are all simply wrong, have been shown to be wrong, and you know they are wrong ??? Well maybe vlad is a slime ball... Lol

Do you not read the posts that people put up that show these figures to be wrong or do you just ignore them. I mean I think the post that shows actual figures of people who watched each sport had been put up a 100 times. You never comment on it when it is put up.

I think a thousand times people have highlighted that whether the game is popular in nz or not does not indicate popularity in Australia. Just as TV rights in Asia for the local cricket comp does reflect popularity in Australia. South African and nz tv rights aren't included in the ru tv rights ... Not ratings etc etc as this reflects the popularity across these countries. Channel 10 doesn't use the uk ratings in their Australian ratings figures ..... Cause that's the uk.

I am waiting for the waaaaaaaaaaaaaa response which means I have no come back.

Dave. Respond to the viewer figures posted already as a start?
