THE Sea Eagles have capped a memorable season by turning a profit for the first time in over 35 years.
While Geoff Toovey's team overcame adversity to make the grand final, off the field the club managed to do the same thing in what is a tough economic environment.
And they did it without the luxury of leagues club grant which many of their NRL rivals enjoy and a board that has been plagued by internal squabbles.
Sea Eagles general manager David Perry would not reveal the amount of profit achieved, the Manly Daily understands it is in the vicinity of $100,000.

lol is this news to you AFL bumblers? NRL has always been managed extremely poorly in comparison to the AFL.
once we get some proper management, which so far seems to be whats happening, as opposed to ex-players getting a shot at running the show cause they were mates with so and so, NRL will explode both in oz and abroad.

No it won't, because it's a shit game. You can try to put it over all you want. Even with the best management in the cosmos, NRL will always be nothing outside of NSW and QLD and struggle to compete within thsoe two states with both soccer and AFL, especially as AFL explodes!

You'll need more than good management. Dedicated fans who are willing to part with their hard earned, instead of watching the TV at home, would be a start. Neither the AFL or NRL could survive on TV revenue alone. The AFL do very well with memberships, gate receipts and sponsorships. The NRL struggle.

it has, but not much will change. it cant attract fans & sponsors, EG crunulla sharks.
NRL struggling to secure home loan, despite code being on upswing
Date: March 20 2010
ROY MASTERS
Negotiations between the NRL and banks to secure a loan to build new headquarters have stalled because of the code's 10-year history of near-zero cash balances.
The NRL has approached three banks seeking financing to supplement the $11.4 million the federal government pledged late last year as part of its stimulus package but the code's banker, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, expressed concern over the failure to accumulate cash reserves.
''The mighty NRL can't negotiate a loan at decent commercial rates,'' a club official said. ''We've got no future fund. We earn $150m and spend $149m.''
St George Bank, sponsors of the Dragons, offered a loan at a high interest rate, while further shopping around resulted in National Australia Bank prepared to discount St George's terms by 1.1 per cent. NRL chief executive David Gallop refused to be drawn into commentary on the outcome of approaches his director of finance, Ed Farish, has made to banks, saying the site for a new administrative headquarters, combining the NRL, based at Fox Studios, and the ARL, located in the NSW Leagues Club in Phillip Street, had yet to be decided.

wow a new tv deal, so is every other sport getting tv deals, your game will always be shit, it has declining ratings, declining crowds, declining participation rates, declining in NSW & QLD, is non existent anywhere else. people are waking up, the basement dwelling NRL virgins, are leaving home, & realizing how boring the game of League is,
