Top five national teams in Australia

I have put together the top five representative teams in Australia based on following;
Relevance to ALL Australians
Importance to ALL Australians and
Degree of prestige.

Number 5

The Australian Olympic team

Number 4

The Wallabys

Number 3

The Australian Women's Netball team

Number 2

The Socceroos

Number 1

The Australian Cricket team

That's right folks no rugby league insight! For the record I was tossing up with the following for Number 5
The Davis cup team
The Australian Men's basketball team
The Australian Swim team
The Hockeyroos
The Australian Women's basketball team

(Note AFL has no representative team and therefore is ineligible, while the RL has one that purports to be an Australian Representative team it is ONLY drawn from two states and overseas born players and again should not be listed as a NATIONAL side)

Only two sports there that actually out rate the Kangaroos once every four or so years, the other times, the Kangaroos are one of the highest rating national teams even though the ARL doesn't even try :(/ :(/ :(/

One would be the socceroos when they play in the FIFA WC or are playing a big country in Prime time to make the WC, and the Olympics get decent ratings for 2 weeks but mostly for opening and closing ceremonies.

Union isn't even close, they are finding it hard to reach 350k on FTA TV theses days.

Again you confuse TV ratings with relevance to the WHOLE of Australia - the RL isn't relevant in four states in Australia, the RLWC doesn't have the prestige the other sports do - nor does it have the NATIONAL importance - so sorry Parra tv ratings just don't cut it!

It's funny how AFL supporters make so many more threads to try put down RL and link so many more articles. Gee you guys are desperate.

on a pound for pound basis

the Kangaroos are right up there with any national side in this nation
they haven't failed to sellout a test in this nation since 2008...... every venue , every year .... from Melbourne to Townsville

& regularly attract 1.5 to 1.8 Million audiences on TV for the ANZAC & October tests .. only Cricket attracts more veiwers on a consistent basis
& this is the 3rd tier of our game these days behind club & state football  :-k

only a pathetic wanking fumbler would put some of the sides on his knob groping list ahead of this famous & magnificent national Australian side =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

the womens Australian Netball side :?>

Obviously you can't read - the criteria was relevance, importance and prestige - TO THE WHOLE NATION not just NSW or QLD but the WHOLE NATION - fairly obvious if 4 out of 6 states couldn't give a rats about it can't be relevant, important or prestigious enough to be in the top five! And that is exactly the case! And don't it just burn you up inside having to face up to the truth - they are not selected from the WHOLE of Australia and 4 out of 6 states don't care about them, ends there! :_<> :_<> :_<>
