VFL or SANFL ?

So which of the state codes of Australian Rules Football is the premier code behind the AFL? I heard the SANFL stating they needed to make changes if they wanted to remain the number 2 comp behind the AFL. I think the VFL would possibly question this given the amount of AFL listed players playing in that comp. and what of the WAFL? What is happening there. There is also the NEAFL that has been revised with two divisions I think but less teams.

The trouble with the VFL is that it's a Mickey Mouse competition being littered with AFL players with no real direction. It's why more and more AFL clubs are shifting away from arrangements with VFL clubs and going it alone. The SANFL is different in that the clubs there have a bigger say that the Crows or the Power. I don't know what the relationship is between the WAFL clubs and the Eagles and the Dockers. I know even less about the NEAFL.

The WAFL and SANFL are still traditional competitions whilst the the old VFA bas been slowly changed into an AFL seconds competition. The NEAFL has been concentrated into a single league.
The championship competition shows quite an even distribution of winners.

I reckon a true champion's league throughout Australia would be stronger than the poor excuse of nrl.

Well it is AAMI Stadium's final ever game before it gets knocked down and the land sold off for a massive profit for the SANFL that will make it's way into the pockets of the Crows and the Power. But that's a great crowd no matter what!

Um no. Not a single dime will go to the Crows or Power. The $ANFL bleed both clubs with the worst stadium deals in the AFL. Here's a snapshot of the deal for the Power. We don't take home any gate takings if our crowd is under 28,000. We don't get any of the catering revenue from our home games. We don't get any of the car parking revenue ($15 per park) for our home games. When we got a crowd of 45,000 against Carlton in round 23, we only made $160,000. To put that in perspective, Geelong would only need a crowd of roughly 20k, if that, to make money at Simonds. The $ANFL are a disgrace, Drac would understand as well. Local footy is great, but the dick heads running the show are corrupt.

In WA the WAFC controll the two AFL teams, WAFL and grassroots football.
It is a model that works well but the AFL want to separate the two.
If the SANFL owned the two AFL clubs IMO you would have a successful model
but good on the SANFL in trying to protect their league.

The SANFL currently owns both AFL clubs licenses but won't in 2014. The SMA run the show at Adelaide Oval and are made up of 4 SANFL and 4 SACA members. These 8 people determine the stadium deal that the Crows and Power will get. They could have opted for a clean stadium deal like the WA clubs get, which is something like the clubs paying an annual rent at Subiaco of around $3m and receiving all ticketing revenue. Not sure about catering revenue. There's no ridiculous magical breakeven crowd figure that the clubs need to achieve to make money from matches which is why it works so well.

Okay, but my point still stands about AAMI Stadium being sold off and the money going to help the Power get out of the hole. I know I read that it's why the AFL approved an assistance package for the Power while waiting for the money for that sale to arrive. They wouldn't have helped them otherwise.
