Another scandal has erupted from Mad Monday after a Brisbane Lions player was accused of abusing and assaulting a man in a wheelchair while he was waiting for a taxi.
Robert Partridge made a complaint to the Indooroopilly Criminal Investigation Branch and alleged the player tipped him out of his wheelchair while waiting for a maxi-taxi in Toowoong, News Limited reported.
Partridge claimed he was approached by a group of men when the AFL player allegedly said: "a wheelchair ******, you beauty."
The group of men then allegedly tipped Partridge out of his wheelchair before taking the taxi the disabled man had been waiting for.
When Partridge protested, the allegedly drunk men threw food at him and left him lying on the ground.
Adam Magill, the lawyer representing Partridge, said his client made the complaint on Thursday.
"I was contacted by Mr Partridge in the wake of this alleged attack and he is obviously very shocked and distressed about the whole ordeal," Mr Magill said.

Can this sport get any lower? What type of person would do this?

If it's true it's disgusting. Sounds so unbelievable and over the top that I suspect a compo-whore is out for a quick buck. Adam Magill's name is an instant red-flag....

The Brisbane Lions today have made internal inquiries regarding an alleged incident that took place early on Sunday evening.
The Club takes these allegations extremely seriously.
The Club notes significant discrepancies in the versions of events reported to media at various times and those provided to Queensland Police and the Club.
The Club can confirm that a number of its players were in the area near where the alleged incident took place.
The Club’s inquiries, however, have not found any evidence that its players acted in an unlawful manner towards the gentleman concerned.
The Club can confirm a player, Daniel Rich, wheeled the gentleman some metres towards a taxi rank, however, at no stage was this action intended to cause the gentleman any distress or harm.
At this stage there is no evidence to support other claims made in the media today.
Interesting

wait for some actual evidence, or someone to be found guilty, before judging

Some disabled people, to the detriment of their fellows, have a tendency to over react to situations.
Let's see some proper details in this one, but I do agree that if something nasty has happened it's not acceptable.

Sounds woeful, but yet, yes, something ol andy d would find hysterical.
Bring on the truth. Considering the brush off the AFL and it's CEO gave the setting alight of a dwarf, I expect this lowly act will be brushed off as ' a laughing matter' and ' we're sorry but nothing to see here' by the AFL as is already implied by AFL supporters on this site.
Ur right rabbit. Makes the bulldogs telling a female journo to F off look like angels.

Once again Rabbit and KE are our practising hypocrites! Those that live in glass houses! I suppose performing sex acts on a canine is acceptable because the dog didn't complain! Yes folks lots of hypocrites at work on this thread!

I never said the dog incident was acceptable. It was shockingly woeful. But, our CEO didn't crack up at the thought of such an act and we aren't even talking about that now swines ya big sooky cop out! I find it extremely distasteful that none of you AFL turkeys have had the gonads to even admit these acts are fuuuuked up. Really fuuuuked up
And on top of that you've got a CEO who shows his hand by cracking up uncontrollably laughing at such incidents
Bad bad times for the AFL.

Some, but most when out at night having a good time are not, they are actually out having a good time thus the complete opposite of the ones you are talking about. And the ones that do go out at night and have a good time are exactly the same as any other people going out to have a good night.
Most people in wheelchairs (depending on age and mental capabilities) do not like to be helped in anyway whatsoever, it's called independence, and I'm sure even the most ardent troll in here would agree everyone deserves independence, right?
I've seen first hand drunken idiots go up to people in wheelchairs and start pushing them around thinking it's funny doing wheelies and stuff, that is until the person in the chair hanging on for dear life falls out. I had a guy hold me over a train platform on the back wheels at Minto one night drunk as a train was coming because he thought it was funny.

Well said pete, well said. But might I add that you prob needed to include something about crap1's woeful statement that "nothing happened whatsoever". He needs correcting, wouldn't you say?
He's not listening to my sound and valid advice so please, do tell the lil chap to pull his socks up for me.
