Roosters winger profiting from AFL help

Emerging Sydney Roosters NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is profiting from advice from another code as he continues to win admirers for his dashing play. The Samoan-born New Zealand-raised 20-year-old winger is one of the exciting youngsters in the much-improved 2013 Roosters side mentored by new coach Trent Robinson. After playing his first six top-flight games last year, Tuivasa-Sheck has nailed down a regular spot this season and scored six tries in 14 matches. He starred in the Roosters' last-start win over Canterbury, setting up a try with a dazzling run and perfect flick pass and caught several high kicks in immaculate fashion. Tuivasa-Sheck said members of the Sydney Swans coaching staff had helped the Roosters with their aerial work. "We practise a lot of catching with them, they've got a lot of technical skills that they show us and spend a lot of time after and before training," Tuivasa-Sheck told AAP. Tuivasa-Sheck is no stranger to different codes, having played rugby union through his childhood in New Zealand. He was good enough to represent NZ Schoolboys on a tour of Australia, where one of his teammates was the Hurricanes' highly-rated Super Rugby flanker Ardie Savea. While Tuivasa-Sheck has been spoken about as the eventual replacement for veteran fullback Anthony Minichiello, he is no hurry to take the No.1 jersey from his skipper. "I look at the future and I just leave it there," Tuivasa-Sheck said about playing fullback. "At the moment I'm looking at the now and just playing on the wing. "There's still a lot of stuff I need to work on to make my wing real

Well if you want to improve your skills above normal RL standards you approach the best!

Not unusual for rl players to receive help from the AFL, but when I lived in Sydney there was a small cheer squad that attended Eastern Suburbs games and East Sydney Bulldogs games at the old Sports Ground and Trumper Park.

I think the AFL has also sought help with tackling from nrl clubs. Titans had Peter Everett helping around skills such as marking and kicking.

how many times have we seen NRL wingers carrying the ball in one hand, leaping into the air .... with 4 defenders smashing into them in a try scoring situation

& not only do they stay in the field of play & not hit the touchline .. they hold onto the ball as well

No not all the time, Dave "Allen". You're a one man comedy act! You should head out and make a living out of it. Sydney's only just up the road.
