About bloody time funding was made available to rectangular stadiums...............
Parramatta Stadium, the nest of the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Parramatta Eels, will receive a $20 million facelift, the federal government announced on Tuesday.

The funding will be used to install additional seats to bring the stadium's capacity to 24,000, to build a concourse that includes new food and drink outlets and to improve facilities for players.
This is the first major upgrade to the grounds, which have been home to the Wanderers in their inaugural season and used by the Eels since 1947, in nearly three decades.
Federal Sports Minister Don Farrell and Parramatta Federal MP Julie Owens made the announcement, flanked by representatives from the Eels and Wanderers, at Parramatta Stadium.
The upgrade follows reports last month that the Eels club was considering holding more games at ANZ Stadium, with the chief executive seeking legal advice on the club’s tenancy agreement with Parramatta Stadium and the matter being discussed at a board meeting last month.
A master plan for a $250 million upgrade to ANZ Stadium, including the addition of more than 10,000 square metres of new development spaces as well as moving grandstands and a retractable roof, was also unveiled by the state government on Tuesday afternoon.

Things looking up for The Wanderers and Eels, also Souths and the Bulldogs will get a nice lift in crowds once the roof is on ANZ....

Hope so, I think it's a bad image playing in shooty grounds and low crowds . The nrl desperately need something like this I think and about time. I wonder if the nrl are contributing to costs ?

I hope they do get a roof on a stadium in Sydney. I'm sick of their repeated use of poor weather as an excuse. It'll show em up for the insipid fans they really are

Noone will commit to a roof over ANZ without the promise of more games from the nRL. Hope you guys like playing in that soulless toilet of a stadium, because you'll be seeing a lot more of it.

No doubt the Swans will continue to have the highest average crowd at the stadium out of any AFL or nRL team.

It's a sad state of affairs when beating an expansion team in your heartland market is cause for joyous celebration. Imagine any of us breathing a sigh of relief every time the western bulldogs outdrew the Melbourne Storm lol.
Oh and just for the record, in 2009 the Swans finished 12th and still outdrew every throwball team in Sydney....
