It is such a shame that the same amount of interest can't be achieved during the regular club season, is it not?

Mmm reread your comment and have a think again.....
What code gets this sort of theater and interest during the season in AUS?
NRL does not
AFL does get large crowds but do they get 12m viewers over 3 games during the season? nor do they get within a wisker of 4m viewers during the regular season?
Another ****** on the TF.....

Such an amazing spectacle SOO 1 hasnt even sold out yet!

yep, that's right. Apparently their biggest game of the year still has around 10k tickets left! What a joke
Three games a year that NRL supporters can claim they have a blockbuster! Wow, the AFL have at least 1 a week.

LOL! Tickets went on sale last year and they can't even sell out the so called "biggest rivalry in Aus sport"? What a fucking joke. Imagine the crowd they'd get to the 3rd game if QLD won the first 2 matches?

one blockbuster a week
you mean games where the average ticket costs about $7
so its VFL's
80,000 at the MCG & gate takings of $500,000 to $600,000
1.2 Million or so TV veiwers
up against
RL's SOO
around 80,000 there next week in Sydney ..
6 Million dollars in gate takings
&
4 Million plus TV veiwers
nup it aint in SOO's post code
you lot have one game that occasionally can hold a candle to our SOO a year
yr little GF
we have 4 of this size .. each .. & every year =D> =D> =D>
bow down fumblers
learn your place

While Origin is good, it makes the NRL look like a boring reserves grade with empty seats everywhere.
People in NSW are losing interest cause QLD have won so much & NSW will probably get thrashed thise year. The reason for this is NSW has a culture problem, always have, always will!

Indeed. The AFL has the NRL beaten in so many ways it's embarrassing.

Seriously put this shit on a Saturday arvo and see how many people bother tuning in to your little state rivalry which every time it's played further re-emphasises the fact that only 2 states play that stupid thugs sport.

hello
any proof of figures Raiderdave?
the majority people that watch the State of origin are bandwagon fans that only have interest in it as its the state vs state concept & its an excuse to meet up with mates and get pissed & turn up to work the following day with a hang over. the majority people have no interst in the NRL, tv & crowd figures support this.
the AFL had state of origin years ago but scrapped it due to lack of interest, the big clubs the Collingwoods, Essendons, Carltons Hawthorns, West Coast, Adeliade, have built up a competitive tradition's of hating one another that there is no need or intensest for the AFL to have the state or origin
