James Hird 'injected with banned drug'

ESSENDON coach James Hird was injected with a banned drug, according to a report in Fairfax newspapers today.
The club's former sports scientist Stephen Dank says he injected Hird with Hexarelin, which was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2004.
The report says that information gathered by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority backs up the claim.
But in a statement last night, Hird said: "These claimes are horrifying to me, and are being made by a person or people who appear determined to destroy my reputation. I have at all times fully adhered to, and promoted the WADA code and the AFL rules, and the code of ethics of the Essendon Football Club."
Dank also says that players were given the anti-obesity drug AOD9604 before and during the 2012 season. He says nothing he gave players was prohibited.

Wow! Who woulda thought ol golden boy was a crook!? Disgusting and it's quite clear now that whole club was rife with filth from top to bottom with everyone having a hand in the episode and a 'win at all costs' attitude. Hirdy boy was clearly the guinea pig, no longer a player, he believed he wouldnt be tested officially, and therefore it looks like he's acted as the guineapig and secretly 'tested' the drugs behind closed doors to see if they resulted in a positive urine or blood test.
Disgraceful club, get rid of em, along with Melbourne and the GC and then put a Darwin team in :D

Fat Andy might have to propose another meeting with them to arrange another 'deal'.

jesus
why has he not resigned already ?
he has disgraced his family
his club
his sport
why has that fat arsehole who runs their game not come out in strong condemnation
this is an utter farce
watch the VFL slime around like a slithering snake in an attempt to worm their way out of being tough on this type of behaviour , the same way they have with salary cap cheats , tanking cheats , match fixing cheats .. & now it will be drug cheats
just when you think this sport cannot lower its standards
they find a way
an organisation devoid of integrity
it just doesn't exist

Wow. I just read Essendon were all set and ready to get a ship load of sheep placenta's in from o/s for their players in 2013. But it fell through when Dank left..."win at all costs" indeed
Disgusting club, I've no doubt this woeful behaviour filtered down through Hird. Cheats.
I'd have to agree with raider though. History tells us even if Hird is guilty of all and sundry, he will be supported in this. He'll get three chances atleast, and an infinite number of chances if he pleads guilty early. That's the AFL way

Ex ASADA rep commented on SEN this morning saying even if its true, and Hird is denying it, he has not breached WASA, ASADA or AFL policy.
Suck on that bitches :D

If Hird is going to be fired it won't be for taking a peptide he is allowed to take legally (which is what they tell you if you watch the video attached to rabbits link). He will be fired for keeping the doctor out of the loop and giving dank to much of a free reign inside the club. If not hird then at least his senior assistant has to go for bringing dank into the place.
The circle jerk in this thread over the drug use is quite amusing, it's showing off the ignorance of the RL posters in spades. Keep up the good work fellers.

Many readily available medications taken by the public are banned as performance enhacing for athletes. Doesnt mean coaches cant take them.
Next youll say coaches cant take sudafed if they have a cold because players are banned
