AFL NZ Broadcast Deal
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-07/n ... ew-heights
This is unbelievable.
From round 4, every game of the AFL premiership season on FREE TO AIR tv in New Zealand. Each week will include 6 live games and 3 delayed.
All finals and the Grand Final LIVE on FTA
Access to every game live on mobile and tablet devices.
Now the nRL will make a tonne of more money off of their deal, but it looks almost certain to remain exclusive to pay tv. This is fantastic news for the development of football, and can only help efforts to grow the code at the grass roots level there.

Re: AFL NZ Broadcast Deal
So NZ have a better AFL FTA TV schedule than Sydney has for their own game...

Do people in NZ watch channel 14 much?

I think it's going to be a new freeview channel starting this month? A 7.30 EST game would be 9.30 NZ time.piesman2011 wrote:At what time would a Friday night 7:30pm EST game be on the NZ?

Re: AFL NZ Broadcast Deal
NRL in NZ = http://www.skysport.co.nz/ for 150m over 5 years
AFL in NZ = http://altexchange.co.uk/sommet-sports/ for $000000000000 over maybe 2 months if the channel can stay alive for that long..............
The Investment
The launch of a dedicated Free to Air (FTA) Sports Channel has mass appeal to the New Zealand television audience and in the demographic male 18-45, it is estimated that this response would be at least double those of a general audience.
An FTA Sports channel targeting a far wider demographic of males aged 16 – 70 and crucially this demographic has far greater spending power that a younger youth demographic. Further to this the analogue switch off in New Zealand shall be completed by 2013. By which time the Freeview DVB-T Network shall be the main viewing medium for New Zealand population. Once a dedicated Free to Air channel has been launched, due to Freeview NZ contract terms it precludes any other type of sports channel joining the network. With the first sports channel launched it will build up a loyal customer following offering to New Zealanders for the first time a dedicated Free to Air sports channel. The mix of international and locally produced content will be appealing to NZ sporting fans and create interest in the channel. The channel can only be financed by the commercial insertion of advertorial content during programme breaks.
Minimum Investment: £5,000
Tax Wrapper: EIS and SIPP
Client Eligibility: Sommet Sports is available to all levels of investor.

Eels your total media deal was 1.2 billion.
Thats 1.025 billion + NZdeal + Telstra deal
Thats 175 million for Telstra + NZ deal
Whats that make the NZ deal ? Its some where in the 60 million to 100 million dollar range.
