Hi folks,

I'm wondering if, after last seasons debacles (please see locked thread titled 'All bets are...' for background info), anyone would be happy to engage in some friendly bets on this season's AFL and NRL comps. Usually the wager is an avatar bet but I'd be interested to hear any proposals for wagers. I for one am up for some good ol fashioned, put your money where your mouth is, style bettin in here to liven up the place.

One clause though. You must bet in an honourable and honest manner, unlike beaussie and xman last year.

Games in which GWS are officially recorded as the home team. And the same for the Penny Panthers.

You happy with this? I'm still not 100% sure I'm keen to bet on this one as it would be an amazing feat if the Panthers could win it. I mean they've got so much stacked against them in this.

2. Competition for crowds - Penrith vis a vis all other Sydney RL clubs - GWS vis a vis the Swans
3. Crowd culture - Everyone knows RL looks great on TV while marngrook doesnt quite cut it on the big screen

But still this one could be close, such is the dominance of RL in sydney

3. Giants are a 2 year old AFL team in League heartland, Panthers are a 47 year old League club in League heartland.

Giants will still win.

GWS have the entire city of Sydney to draw on for every one of their home games Stewie. There's also a small but significant bunch of swanny supporting sydneysiders starved for marngrook here who will go to both swans and gws games. Pemwuff on the other hand is more dependent on their form rather than being the sole team in town. Additionally, you know diddly about sydney. Pemwuff is a low performing team based in an area where the more successful club's fans would not bother to go to, to see a game in which they already know the result.

Point two remains valid.

NSW is not AFL heartland though, so you can't play the entire city of Sydney to draw from card. It's like saying the Storm have the city to themselves and should sell out every game, but since Victorians don't follow bogans rugby, they don't bother showing up. Point 2 is invalid.
