Very good ad clearly aimed at developing all levels of the game. I welcome the new strategy that looks to develop the nrl as simply the figurehead for a much deeper community game. This strategy is also evident in their attempt to rename touch footy to touch rugby league.

It seems to be getting the big thumbs down by every leaguie I know and how desperate of RL to attempt to rename touch footy to touch rugby league.

Jessica Mauboy has opened up to Kyle and Jackie O this morning over the hateful tweets she receives on Twitter.

The Aussie singer and actress said that she doesn't take too much notice of them, but she does see them.

There is a lot of criticism on social networks over the use of her new single 'Something's Got A Hold On Me' on the current NRL commercials.

Some are saying that for Australia's "toughest" sport they should've used a different song, and a different artist.

She probably expected it. No doubt the bogans who follow the sport would have disliked the move the nRL made from using Bon Jovi to Jessica in their ads.

We don't use touch footy numbers to inflate our numbers unlike the AFL and auskick

It’s a strange ad and the message isn’t very clear. I don’t get why someone in America being impressed by an AFL clip is at all relevant to someone in Australia. Is the message that AFL has global reach and appeal or that it’s “Australia’s best kept secret” that the world doesn’t know about? The idea of showing clips to people overseas but continuing to state that it’s “”our game” seems to be a contradiction.

Compare it the NRL’s ad. The NRL’s ad was very clear. It was targeting women and children and I think it did it’s job very well, though I can see why the more traditional NRL fan wouldn’t like it so much. However an ad should probably be trying to target a new audience. An ad designed to “preach to the converted” seems like a waste of money. In contrast, I’m not sure who the AFL is trying to target.

Could not have put it better myself Matt............ =D> =D>
