NRL to earn 2 Billion in revenue in the next 5 yrs

Post by Raiderdave »

wow
just wow =D> =D> =D> =D>

all the lil vicky kicky cheerleaders trying to work it out saying we'd be 100 to 150m behind the VFL's 450M a year
but

it seems it will be a lot less then that eh ?

but As ARLC Chairmen John Grant has said however ... even this isn't enough
& the revenue which will more then double this year on last ... needs to increase even further as our game becomes the sport of the next 2 decades

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :cool:

2b not bad for starters, says ARLC chairman

RUGBY LEAGUE bosses have been told the game will generate $2 billion in revenue over the next five years - but ARL Commission chairman John Grant says that is not enough.

Grant presented the ARLC's 2012 financial report to a historic annual general meeting on Thursday of the 16 NRL club chairmen and their counterparts from the NSWRL and QRL, then provided them with budget estimates for the next five years.

Not surprisingly, the figures highlighted the poor financial state of the game under the previous joint venture between News Ltd and the ARL, and the vastly improved situation since the commission took control a year ago.

After generating only $185 million in revenue from broadcast rights, sponsorship and gate receipts last year, the ARLC's revenue is projected to increase to $284 million this year and $323 million in 2017.

Advertisement Grant said that under the five-year, $1.025 billion broadcast deal, the game would earn $2 billion but only 10 per cent of that was not accounted for in expenditure.

''Our revenues in broadcast terms will more than double in the next year, and our commercial revenues are up by about 25 per cent so we are dealing with a lot more revenue, which is one of the reasons we have locked away $200 million in the growth fund over five years.

''Broadcast funding [including New Zealand television and a new media rights deal with Telstra] is just over $1.2 billion, and commercial revenue is about $800 million.

''That is about $2 billion, and of that amount 10 per cent only will go into our growth fund - and it is not enough.''

After inheriting a game with only $4.8 million in the bank, Grant said the ARLC aimed to put $40 million a year aside in a futures fund for big projects but he hoped that figure would be more.

According to the 2012 financial report, the first made public by the game's administration since the end of the Super League in 1997, the NRL received:

❏ $101,563,667 from broadcast rights;

❏ $39,919,406 from game receipts for finals matches and State of Origin; and

❏ $14,022,212 from sponsorship.

Among the expenses in 2012 were:

❏ $46.2 million in club grants;

❏ $8 million in a one-off payment of $500,000 per club;

❏ $69,079,584 in operational expenses;

❏ $14,730,317 in marketing and media expenses, and;

❏ $22,133,755 in administration expenses.

Between 2004 and 2012, the game's income grew by eight per cent a year but the ARLC has targeted 13 per cent annual growth for the next five years.

''The point we made to all of our commission members is that it [$200 million] is not enough, and we need to generate more revenue so that is one of the things that we are chasing,'' Grant said.

''That is why digital [media] is important, that is why new sponsorships and new properties and creating new events are important.

''When you do the numbers and how much we spend, $200 million is what is left. It just speaks to the paucity of this game prior to this latest revenue rights [increase].

''This game has been run on the smell of an oily rag, and there has been nothing in the bank and no investment in the future. Yet it has been as successful as it has been.''

So all clubs + the NRL are making about 400 million a year. Thats not to bad. If they can double that figure they might get close to the AFL + AFL clubs, who if I remember correctly are on about 4.5 billion over the next 5 years.

ah no :lol: :lol: :lol: ..... thats JUST the NRL ( the governing body )
not its clubs you wombat

the 16 NRL clubs combined earn about 350 Million between them (2012)

meaning the NRL & its clubs will earn about 750 Million this year
& that will be ova 800 Million a year by 2017 ( or 4 billion for the next 5 years )

the financial gap between the codes ... closed dramatically overnight

Na your wrong. Your article has the NRLC (so the NRL with out clubs ) earning 284 million in 2013 and working their way up to 327million in 2017, so thats well short of 2 billion over 5 years. You will get there one day mate with your understanding of figures. The 2 billion figure might not include all revenue from clubs but it would be all football revenue at least.

So the NRL will only earn 284 million in 2013 that is about 150-200 million short of the AFLs revenue. Looks to me like the AFL posters were more accurate then RD again. Come on mate even your own postings are failing you now days.

wow
even a house brick could work this one out :lol: :lol: :lol:

how can the NRL .. and its clubs .. have a combined revenue of 284 Million in 2013

when our media / naming rights revenue alone is 250 Million PLUS a year from this year on
are you seriously suggesting our 16 Clubs will earn just 73 million between them in 2017 ?

the Broncos alone turned over 38 Million alone in 2012 :lol: :lol:

I mean ... you post some of the dumbest shit on these pages
but this is one of your dumber efforts & thats saying a heck of a lot .... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

fact is
the NRL by its self will attract 2 Billion ova the next 5 years
with its clubs earning approx the same amount over the same period

4 Billion
just a smidgeon behind the VFL .... after having less then half their earnings ..in the previous 5 years

wow
what growth

Your not that dumb are you? The 284 million is for the NRL only, increasing to 323 by 2017. Thats about 1.5 billion, over 5 years (300 million a year average). Well short of 2 billion (again you and your understanding of numbers). Yet they are claiming that the game of RL will generate over 2 billion over the 5 year period. So where does this 500 million extra come from? It must be club money and judging by the small amounts about 6.2 million a year for each club on average it is probabaly only football gate reciepts (16000 people X 12 home games X $20 per person = 3.8 million per club) and sponsership (2.4 million a year per club). I also assume that like the AFL the NRL take the gate reciepts for the finals.

6 million a year :lol: :lol: :lol:

the NRL clubs combined earn 350 Million in revenue between them each year, about 21 Mill each .. some earn a lot more more .. some less
on top of the NRL's average of 400 million a year ova the next 5 years as stated by Grant :wink:

NRL club revenue will increase to 400 Million for the 16 clubs by 2017 .... they'll be an extra 200K members for our clubs by 2017
& average crowds will increase to 20K a game from the present 16K

Learn to read.........

6 million is for sponsership and gate reciepts for clubs. The rest of the revenue is probabaly not considered RL revenue (poker machine etc)

Oh yes it is! NRL clubs in New South Wales in particular have always relied on pokie revenue from the Leagues Clubs attached to the clubs themselves to stay afloat! Why do you think the NRL was up in arms over the pokie reforms coming out of the pollies in Canberra??

No doubt the clubs do claim it as revenue, however would anyone claim that poker machine revenue as comming directly from RL? No I doubt it. Although the clubs would claim any NRL grants as revenue, RL as a whole wouldn't claim the NRL grant money, because that would be double counting ( it comes from the TV deal), so the 2 billion over 5 years generated by RL would inc club gate recietes but not pub revenue (I could be wrong and I'm happy to accept any other suggestions).

The issue would be that the leagues clubs have their own costs so their revenue is not all available to the sporting club. The raiders are a classic example. According to Dave they earn 40-50 million or so a year, yet they only claim a 3 million dollar profit! As a result the vast majority of their income is not revenue for the sporting club and cant be counted as NRL revenue. In fact the raiders make a loss every year despite about half of their revenue coming from grants! :lol:

Make no mistake, pies man is dead right. For overall league and sporting club revenue the afl will still more than double the NRL over the next 5 years :wink:
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.
