Get with the program Cameron. There will be no NRL expansion even discussed before 2017.
KANGAROOS captain Cameron Smith has called on rugby league's new boss Dave Smith to tackle AFL head-on by putting expansion back on the NRL agenda.
In a wide ranging interview Smith said if the NRL was serious about being the biggest and best code in the country it must become a truly national game.
"I think overall everyone would agree we are a bit behind (the AFL) at the moment given they are a truly national game," Smith said.
"They have got teams in Sydney and Queensland and over in WA and South Australia whereas we are down the eastern seaboard and New Zealand.
"If we want to grow the game and we want to be the best code in the country we need to expand.
Expansion talk was put on hold last year when the NRL released its strategic plan, making it clear no new team would be admitted before 2017.

Of course expansion won't be talked about. The NRL have their feet on the ground. The AFL have their heads in the clouds.

Cameron Smith disagrees.

I would say the AFL have a vision and can see the future benefits, while the NRL have too many struggles in their own backyard.

See.....into....it...
Douche, he noticed how dominant the AFL is by living outside Sydney. Why the hell would he need to see inside NRL heartland to see how national it was. It isn't, at all. It has teams in 2 states, and a lepers team in Melbourne.

2 teams minimum in each of the 5 biggest states!
Lions and swans have more crowds and members than almost all NRL clubs!
Woohoo =D>

So what you are saying is that someone who spent most of his life in Qld, with lots of connections there, who lives in Melbourne, plays every second week in NSW and has an intricate knowledge and involvement in how Aussie sport works has no idea. While some fanatic from Canberra who only watches one sport, doesnt even know that the NBL is not an American baseball league and spends his time all day on the internet has more of a clue.
Another RaiderDave tin hat special.

Vision?? Look again at the crowd averages of GWS and the Suns and then get back to me! And I mean home averages! Oh sure some NRL Sydney averages aren't great either but that's because of $hit venues (and in the case of Sea Eagles toffs not wanting to travel!).

Striker, look at the Brisbane bears and swans when they started! They were basket cases. Now they are well established with crowd averages that shame all NRL sides bar the broncos.
Expansion takes more than 1 year

Indeed, I mean how could they contemplate expansion when 15 or the current 16 clubs run at a massive loss.
