Junior AFL/RL in VIC and NSW

After the usual BS Raiderdave sprouts about the lack of junior AFL in NSW and Sydney I thought it was a good idea to compare the progress of both sports in their respective largest expansion market.
http://www.aflnswact.com.au/index.php?id=25
Above is a list of junior AFL leagues in NSW/ACT that are affiliated with NSW/ACT AFL. As you can see there are 23 leagues, each with many teams. These exclude all Auskick programs run at schools, both during and after school. Thy also exclude private school comps which have been described in the media recently.
http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page ... &sID=15762
Above is a RL Victoria site describing one league with 10 teams in total.
Surely there are more junior RL comps in Victoria than one. Can anyone find them? According to Wiki "
There are 11 amateur clubs in the state according to the Victorian Rugby League; 7 of the clubs field junior teams."
So in summary, all ive found is 23 AFL leagues in NSW/ACT to 1 RL league in VIC. This excludes Auskick clubs which RL do not appear to have a comparable program.
Is that it, because its pretty damning?!

Just in Sydney a fairly small AFL market there are 7694 junior players in 2011. Compare that to Vic in total for all players if I remember correctly there was a total of just over 2000 players for all leagues (senior inc). At the end of 2011 there were for NSW/ACT (Aussie rules) about 30000 club players (so they would play a normal season) would have to be at least 20K from NSW at least 10 times the amount of RL players.

thats 10 CLUBS ..... not 10 teams
this is as good an effort as cussy's last year when he sprouted from the highest hill tops that Cronulla only had 14 " teams " playing RL ... & the VFL had 9 , & how VFL was taking ova
when it was pointed out in fact
that Cronulla had 252 Teams ... to the VFL's 9
the cock head got .. teams & clubs mixed up as well ... just like marcus the **** has here
fact is there are 10 RL clubs in Melbourne ... fielding sides from U7's to first grade
thats
Juniors
U7's , U8's , U9s , U10's , U11's , U12's , U13's , U14's , U15's , U16's ......
Seniors
U18's , Res , 1st grade
13 X 10 ... is how many " teams " d head ?

by teams I meant clubs.
So in under 12s for example there are a maximum of 10 teams in Victoria. That's what I meant fool!
Now try finding more leagues in Victoria....try finding more clubs.....
At the moment its 23 v 1 leagues. This number excludes Auskick which has huge participation numbers in nsw.
So its closer to 50 v 1 for participation numbers....

Avoiding the reality of the topic there Dave?
Of course I know each club has multiple teams. But its also true that at each junior level the maximum number of teams in the entire state of Victoria is 10, and according to wiki only 7.

Hmmm 50:1 participation rates of ARs in NSW compared to RL in Victoria.
If thats not money well spent I don't know what is =D> =D>
As for the amount of money, the AFL have had the money on hand, why wouldn't they spend it on expansion and grass roots development?

avoiding another F up marcus ?
heres the reality
Vicky Kicky has been played in the Riverina / SW NSW since the turn of the last century
& probably accounts for 15,000 of the 30,000 registered VFL club players in NSW & half of the leagues .... they are not an add on .. they are not a KI in any disscusion on growth in NSW for VFL ...
of the 7694 club VFL players in Sydney
probably a third were already there before the swines came up in 1982 , as this silly little victorian oddity has been played in Sydney ( no doubt by ex pats who moved there from the sthn states ) since before RL was even invented in the late 1890's
meaning really .. only about 5000 players have been converted to singlets & tight shorts since 1982 in Sydney at a cost of half a billion dollars
wow
what an embarrasing result
RL in Melb really didn't exist until the 1980's
& only had a few hundred players in 1998 when the Storm were born
meaning ... at a cost of about .. NOTHING .... in 14 years in Melb
RL has got 50% of the result VFL has in Sydney
thats mightly impressive
& theres no doubt .... in 16 years ... when the Storm celebrate their 30th year in Melb .. there will be more Victorians playing RL
then there are Sydneysiders playing vicky kicky .. in Sydney today.

There are actually 8 gridiron clubs in Melbourne. According to wiki there are only 7 junior RL clubs in Victoria.

500,000,000 divded by 7,694
5,000,000 divided by 2,600
who got the better return on their investment ?

Ahh Dave, ARs is 50 times bigger in NSW than RL in Victoria, and the difference is only growing further apart.

It has nothing to do with return on investment Dave, and everything to do with development at ANY affordable cost.
50:1 Dave
