THE NRL draw was supposed to be released to the clubs, their fans and the media at a big press conference on Friday. The plan fell through when Channel Nine rejected the draw. They had only been given 11 of their 20 choices for Sunday afternoon games. Officials are working over the weekend to come up with something more suitable to the broadcasters. Fans are up in arms about the delay.

I thought the new TV deal would mean that the nRL was no longer run by the networks? Obviously not!
To think that the poor thugby fans have to sit through another 5 years of third rate coverage from a shit network because the nRL is greedy!

Wow. Ch9 obviously believe they purchased control of the nRL. Bad news for teams like the raiders, and their fans of course.

And the Storm!!
The NRL should tell 9 either accept the draw, or "You've reneged on the deal so we're cancelling it!".

But the Raiders are richer than Collingwood! They will be fine!

The nRL is selling out to the networks at record levels, to the point where 9 actually dictates the draw. I am glad I follow a sport that does not allow shit like this to happen =D>
And all this selling out to TV couldn't even put the nRL ahead of the AFL in TV $
The nRL is a disgrace to sport. Once their brainwashed fans realise this, the better this countries sporting culture will be.

oh ... our deal has been finalised has it, must of missed the announcement , what did we end up with ?
we're getting almost EXACTLY the same coverage as last year , a handful of games less on delay which is good, but for more then double the money
we're used to the coverage , its no worse then its been & we can wait another 5 years for it to improve no probs .. but we're now loaded

.
this deal was always about putting us on a financial footing to ensure we are no longer vunerable to wealthier competitors & it scares the bejesus out of you lot
deal with it

The nRL's coverage on tv is maxed out now, in future negotiations they won't be able to get much more money because they already have no matches clashing on TV as well as no more timeslots to open up. The AFL still has Monday night matches to one day fall back on and earn some more cold hard cash from, as well as twilight grand finals.
The nRL TV deal once again is shit, with only one FTA game going live, and all you say you're used to it. Used to shit coverage are you? Why do nRL fans just accept the shit that the nRL delivers them? I feel sorry for the poor fans who can't afford Foxtel and are forced to only watch crappy channel 9's woeful coverage
