AFL V NRL Financial positioning

There are a lot of fallacies associated with the AFL and the NRL in terms of profits and losses. Last year in 2011, 10 AFL clubs made profits (out of 17).

Hows does this compare with the NRL? This year the first AFL club to show its yearly financial results is Hawthorn who made 1.29 million dolllars in profits (overall Club + Corporate). They currently have assetts of 23 million with 2.8 million in the bank.

I don't think many nRL clubs release their profit and loss statements to the public.

how does it compare ?............... poorly I'd say
heres the Broncos football operation numbers from last year

http://www.broncos.com.au/site/_content ... source.pdf

some points to note
29 Million in football turnover ( I understand their gaming operation turns over another 30 Million but its profits are not reported here )
1.360 Mill after tax profit ... they only had 14K members this particular year ... this grew to 25K this year so expect that profit figure to grow substantially
& they have ..... 14 Million cash in the Bank
more then any VFL club I'd say =D> =D> =D>

the Canberra Raiders turned over 61 Million in 2011 ( football operation & gaming combined ) ... & posted an after tax profit of .... 3.4 Million

I'd say whorethorn need to lift their game a bit based on what the Broncos & Raiders did last year
wouldn't you say D head ?

We do need a few bucks.

But once we start winning again the mighty Lions will be making huge profits & averaging more than the Broncos just like it used to be

S.hit 8-[
Turnover at 17.5 Million for 6 months
& a 1.169 Mill dollar half year profit .... nearly as much as whorethorn's full year profit

Add their gaming profits to their very well run Football operation & we have ...... Australias wealthiest sporting organisation

I wouldnt talk the Broncos up too much as they only average 32,000 a game.

That is 20,000 empty seats for a 1 team town in Rugby League heartland. Says a lot about Rugby League supporters aye Radierdave

shows that fans at games aren't the do all & end all doesn't it D head
and they're a tad easier to talk up then those wascle Wions
who are stoney broke , pennyless .... all but on life support

the Broncos have never posted a loss in their 25 years ..... not one
& have 14 million in cash .... in the bank

do the wions need lessons on how to run football organisation ..... I'll see if the broncos can give them a few tips

Lol. Put another nRL team in Brisbane (a rl heartland) and split their Friday night games and see their finances tumble. Take away their pokies revenue and you've got every nRL club posting financial losses.
