The Kurt Tippett saga has taken another twist, with three more charges laid against AFL club Adelaide and their personnel.

The charges relate to allegations of secret deals in which Tippett was to receive payments not declared in the club's salary cap, and to be traded to the club of his choice for a second-round draft pick if he wanted to leave when his contract expired.

AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson confirmed new charges had been laid against the Crows, chief executive Steven Trigg and football manager Phil Harper.

It is the first time Harper has been charged over the affair, with 11 charges laid in total against those alleged to have been involved.

All charges will be heard on Monday by the AFL Commission.

Anderson said the new charges against the Crows, Trigg and Harper related to breaches of the salary cap.

The Crows face three charges, Trigg three, Tippett two, former football manager John Reid two and Harper one count.

In a statement on Wednesday, Adelaide said the new matters were closely related to the existing charges, and the club "received and understands" the latest charges from the investigation into contract arrangements with Tippett.

"Out of respect for the AFL process, the club is unable to provide further comment on the charges until that process is complete," the Crows said.

Those involved face heavy penalties if found guilty of draft tampering and salary cap cheating.

Tippett could be deregistered as a player and the Crows banned from up to four national drafts, as well as fined any amount the AFL determines.

Tippett became the Crows' highest-paid player when signing a multi-million dollar, three-year contract extension in 2009.

But Adelaide admitted last month they had a deal outside the contract with the ruck-forward, who walked out on the club at the end of the 2012 season and requested a trade to premiers Sydney.

In a further development, The Age alleged on Wednesday that Adelaide had attempted to cover its tracks over the original side deal with Tippett.

The newspaper reported that a second letter existed, in which elements of the deal were rewritten.

Well done to the AFL for having a full investigation on this matter. Cheating won't be tolerated in football.

Their investigation keeps teams honest. Thankfully the AFL will have acted quick enough that the crows won't have cheated other AFL teams out of any premierships.

Certainly better than the nRL at their reactive best when they had to take two premierships off the storm. #-o what a debacle!

It is a positive as it sends out a warning to other clubs not to do the same, or you will be caught. As Xman said, the AFL acted quickly enough to avoid a Melbourne Storm type situation which would have made thousands of opposition fans pissed off had the Crows won the GF whilst cheating. How do the fans of teams who "lost" the 2007 and 2009 nRL gf's feel about the Storm?

Storm loses stuff all money and has have made a profit before, the reason 6 million is pumped in is because that 6 million is for all Victorian RL each year, for some reason, the VRL out of all other state bodies gets lumped in with their Professional team. But not to worry, that 6 million a year will probably double over the next few years, so all's good for the growth of the greatest game in Victoria.
