RL journo reveals inroads AFL is making in country towns

Good to see the AFL making inroads right across the country. Not sure why the journo thinks Hay is a traditional RL town though.
THE NRL is continuing to ignore the plight of country football.
I travelled through the bush last week and saw first-hand the inroads AFL is making in country towns.
Inquiries to the NRL over the weekend reveal that only two games will be played in NSW country areas next season.
City-Country will be in Coffs Harbour and the Parramatta Eels will take a home game to Mudgee - but that’s it.
The draw will confirm all this when it’s released in a couple of weeks.
There’s nothing doing in Wagga Wagga, not even a trial game, in a town that is under siege from the AFL more than any other region.
Andrew Demetriou has already announced a NAB Cup match for the Riverina next season.
I popped into a pub in Hay, a traditional rugby league town.
On the wall were two tipping charts for the NRL and AFL seasons.
There were more names on the AFL chart.
Surely some of the money from the new $1 billion television deal needs to be spent in the country.
City-Country is a nothing game.

Just because the vFL are buying off councils and erecting goal posts everywhere for an Illusion doesn't mean these so called facts are true.
I've seen vFL (cricket grounds) in the Illawarra area that have never seen a vFL game of any kind, as I said and Carro Backs up on last weeks offsiders, it's all spin and they are indeed damaging the game in NSW with their BS.

not even a game in Wagga ?
we played a F'ing trial there this year .... & I think its the VFL's first time there in about 15 years
& guess what
the NRL clubs didn't demand to be paid to play it there either .... unlike a certain other pack of scum in orange who are taking money directly off Wagga rate payers to fumble bumble & miss
give us $150K to play 3 trials here over the next 3 years ..... or we'll go somewhere else they told the Wagga council
meanwhile ..the NRL clubs , the raiders & bulldogs..... raised $50K & gave it all straight back to the game locally.
one code genuine in its desire to help its code in the region

The reason councils pay AFL clubs to play in their areas is because the local community wil make more money then the council give the AFL.

the reason is VFL & its clubs are leaching scum who have no interest in the development of their own game in the bush

the NRL clubs didn't have their hand out like the VFL filth did

who are you trying to kid with this rubbish? It's well known that nRL has been struggling for some time in the bush. I've heard that they have almost half the amount of local league leagues that they had 20 years ago. And how does the nRL respond? A meaningless city v country game which no one gives a shit about and a shit team from Parramatta taking one game to Mudgee and that's it!
