Way to go Sydney.

Ahead of the first game, the Swans had amassed about 5000 members, shooting them to the top of the AFLW in membership numbers. By the end of the game, their memberships had approached 7000.

And yet the Storm hand out freebies.

I wonder who has the better business model? Easy - the AFL.

I think membership figures are so all over the place they are hardly a measure of anything!

the NRL went the way of enormous social clubs in the 1950's
because poker machines were illegal in the backward wasteland state of vicderpia , the aflol went down the path of memberships in the 1970's

as many have said
membership numbers aren't the dick measuring metric they're made out to be by the aflol
end of

They're as valid a metric as tv ratings surveys, roy morgan popularity polls, facebook likes, twitter followers and youtube subscriptions.

It could be argued that gambling and the associated profit from the leagues club, at the very least saved (and continues to save) some of the NRl(nswrl) clubs if not the league itself.
Having said that, I think the pokies sporting club relationship/restrictions was one thing Victoria should have followed.
Pokies nearly destroyed live entertainment in pubs in Vic.
