Well I dont really know the answer. I didnt have enough time to count but one things for certain, our VFL/AFL fans have a ridiculous amount to be ashamed of and may indeed be, wait for it, THE WORST FANS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!

Not growing up in melbourne and hearing the stories, I've been all but unaware of how shameful the fans of this code have always been and continue to be. But I have had an inkling this was the case, i just didnt know the code's fans were amongst the worlds worst! Dear oh dear oh my.

Can you explain what you mean by worst fans. I would have though that Soccer with its rioting and crowd crushes would have had all other sports combined beaten pretty easily. But perhaps I am understanding this thread wrong.

Just going off the sheer numbers of referenced listings on the site I've provided pies. RL has about 4 and the VFL/AFL seems to have about 44 and I noticed that in one of the RL incidents the player retaliated by throwing the bottles back at the fan who was throwing them. Bravo :D =D> and perhaps that gives us all some understanding as to the reason why there's much less poor behaviour amongst RL fans?

Soccer hooligans are the worst by a mile. Anything that has happened in the crowd at either AFL or NRL games drop to almost insignificant levels in comparison. If the AFL is 44 (and I doubt that!) then soccer would be around 1,000 at least at a ball park estimate.

Surely the AFL has about 3 times the amount of fans at a normal match so they would have more incidents. The atmosphere would be much more intense with much more passion. See I can play to.

KE, Wikipedia only lists the notable incidents - not all of them. AS Pies has demonstrated admirably.

Pies Origin has way more passion involved than any little AFL game you can come up with...... and there is no bad behavior on show in Origin crowds.

Agree. Soccer fans take this one in a canter! Horrible horrible behaviour all over the globe.

Second comes RL when you consider theyve got few if any fans, just viewers!

I thought in Origin 2 there were racist remarks made towards the Queensland aboriginal players which were ignored by many. Maybe I heard wrong.

Nope, you got that one right. Plus a QLD SOO player was racially abused on social media in the weeks before the game....

Piesman fair call about the soccer and hooliganism, I agree. And fair call number of AFL/VFL fans at the ground compared to RL/NRL but that really doesnt nearly make up for the number of incidents which have occurred in AFL/VFL crowds as compared to RL. You can say the word 'passion' till your great grandfather gets an erection. Fact is there's high levels of passion for both codes and 'passion' doesnt excuse shocking behaviour.

AFL/VFL incidents appear to outrate RL/NRL incidents about 7 to 1 on the link I provided.
