UPON arriving back from Perth yesterday, John Longmire was confronted with seven TV cameras, 14 microphones and a press pack sporting a growing sense of expectation. No city, probably anywhere, loves its winners quite like Sydney.

That's exactly what the Swans are right now, a truism confirmed by a season-defining 52-point hammering of West Coast on their own turf on Sunday, something no team has managed all season.

It was first against second on the ladder but the result has sent the Eagles sprawling to fifth while the Swans continued to prove their position is no fluke. Expect the punters to come from everywhere to grab a spot on the bandwagon before September and already Sunday afternoon's match at the SCG could sell out before the weekend. The hopeful anticipation is quickly turning to fierce demand.

I'm hoping for a sellout crowd at ANZ Stadium this year.

Also hoping it's time for us to break our hoodoo against the Pies in front of what will be the biggest crowd outside of Victoria for Australian Football.

Although I am a Lions supporter I still really like the Swanns & hope they win the premiership since the Lions wont be there.

It will be time the swans break their losing streak against the pies. What with all those bandwagoners sipping chardonnay and yelling out "cmon ref" and "what time is kickoff for the second half?" in support the swans will feel like sydney really does love its AFL.

It would be good for the ratings if the Swans made the GF this year. With the way they are playing they would be close to favourate now this year. Probabaly share equal favourtism with Hawthorn and Collingwood.

Adelaide are up there imo. I'm thinking swans collingwood gf though.

Imagine if the storm had substantially more members than any Melbourne AFL team! Perspective!

My mate is a Storm supporter who was at the game last night at Parramatta Stadium. He reckons unlike NRL crowds where they need to play lame gee up chants, AFL crowds have passion naturally for their game. Again on display at a packed SCG today. Oh he reckons the crowd was no doubt fudged again last night at Parramatta Stadium.

Yeah they even say that on LU. They claim crowds of 12k and the LU members reckon they grossly exaggerate. Given many of these games only hold 20k I think they're right.

A problem in the AFL in terms of crowds is that members hold on to seats but they may only turn up to three in every four games. So a sell out crowd like at the SCG this weekend (I assume it was a sell out) still does not have a competely full ground. It would be nice to let in people 10 minutes late into the stands for a discount to fill up those seats, when they sell out. The MCG is the worst for this with AFL, club and MCC members reducing crowds from what could be 100K to the mid 80's.

Not one sell out in NSW, ACT or QLD as usual for the vFL, all spin and bullshit this year and when looking at it, every year bar the SCG once or twice in its entire history.

Never sold out the Gabba, never sold out ANZ, never sold out Blacktown, never sold out Skoda, never sold out Manuka and haven't sold the SCG out in years.
